This persecution complex thing is really unattractive. Also it is unwarranted. People attack your views not you, for the most part.

Wanting to be like Jesus is a good thing. He did not talk about being persecuted all the time though, in fact almost never. He suffered in silence.

No, my point is this: when you become part of a group that lives together, suffers together, has good times and bad times together, you feel this way.

The same thing is true for a football team or a glee club as well.

This has to do with the human social experience.

It's the same principle that other organizations use too: the Red Cross, the Shriners, the Salvation Army, Alcoholics Anonymous, the Occupy movements, etc etc etc.

Whether or not leaders abuse that, and others let them, is another issue.

BTW, I spent time doing inquiries in the former East Germany, and with the Bulgarian Army officers I once interviewed. You'd be surprised how happy they were to see US troops visit them, after the Russians left. But then, fortunately, you have never suffered like they did.

What's your point? Drafted soldiers had a duty as a citizen and they performed it. Doesn't subtract from that because they were drafted. Like the airplane seat by the door, if you feel you cannot be counted on when duty calls, let someone know and move out of that spot.

Nope. According to the fairy tale, he knew he'd be back. The soldier doesn't know that he can put a coin in the machine and come back after he has been killed.

It's called a guilt trip. Something to bind you to that sad faith is all. If the legends are true, he knew he'd be taking a short nap so what real sacrifice is there? I shield a person from getting a bullet and I don't know if I will live and if I don't, it is a sacrifice. But if I have a magic shield that protects me from all harm, what real sacrifice is there?

The bolded part is a very interesting statement. A long time ago when I was making it clear that I did not condone the behavior of a certain social group I was attacked as a hater. No matter how hard I tried to explain that I hated no one, I only hated their behavior, the more I was labeled as a hater. In those posts BELIEVE ME, they made it quite clear that they hated me every bit as much as they hated my views, and this hate for me continues and even accelerates.

BTW, I have never, nor will I ever claim to be Jesus or Jesus like. That's WAY above MY pay grade.
