Do you have any understanding, whatsoever, on the time and energy that it takes to reverse the direction of a ship?

Say a cruise ship is traveling at 25 kts. in the wrong direction and the ship must be stopped and turned around. While the is moving at 25 kts. in the wrong direction, the captain is changed to a more competent individual.

Do you really expect the ship to stop instantaneously and reverse itself?

He has reversed the course of the ship in 3 1/2 years. However, the ship has not picked up any speed in the new direction. Because it's a ship, and the weight is 50,000 tons, gaining speed takes time. It takes even longer if you've got small engines and a balky crew.

When I went in the Army in 1968, we made $87.50 per month. Yes, they gave us room and board. The meals weren't too bad, but the board was about 36 men in an area about 30 X40. This was in July through September in Fort Polk, LA. Heat and humidity like you can't believe. Going from long before daylight until dark. Once we did get into our Tajmahal at night, no a/c. Laying in the bunks sweating. After leaving Fort Polk, it went downhill from there.

Then when in college beginning 1971, I got a little less than $300 a month. Does this sound like a huge wind fall to you?

It becomes sabotage when the Minority Leader of the Senate states that their number one goal is to make sure Obama is not re-elected, when the Majority Leader in the House holds a meeting on inauguration day to strategize about how to obstruct the new President, and when the GOP opposes everything Obama proposes, even when it is something they used to support.
