Any bicyclists here?
Curious if anyone else here rides bicycles...
Just bought a road bike, and am planning to get into it. My doctor said no more high impact activities (no more running. ), so decided to pick up a bike and get my aerobic workout this way.Anyways - if there are any other riders here, can you point me to a good forum? The ones I checked out earlier didn't really offer any good help.

You dont need a forum !!
Just get on the thing & start riding. You will find soon enough there are plenty of hot chicks on bikes, you just have to be fit enough to keep up with them !!

Find the long country roads with rolling hills and a safe shoulder
. One of my most favorite outdoor activities is bicycle riding.

Not a rider myself (yet), more into running at the moment but I watch every stage of the Tour de France.

I ride on trails and downtown streets. I would like to get into road riding but its too dangerous round here. We have had three people killed on bicycles in the past three weeks.

I ride occasionally, meaning, not often enough.
I ride around town, not too dangerous. Otherwise I drive to specific areas. Eventually there is supposed to be a paved trail between Williamsburg and Richmond, VA. I've ridden the completed parts. Virginia Capital Trail Map - Jamestown, VA - Richmond, VA I would think to use your favorite search engine to find forums. I'm not on any. EDIT: Check this link for a trail near you. http://www.traillink.com/home.aspx

My chiropractor told me about a bike trail across Missouri on a converted railroad bed. He and his wife rode it last fall. B&B to B&B.

I ride everywhere.
What do you need to know? I know everything. No, not quite. What kind of bike did you get?

Bicycling isn't a "high impact" sport? Most ER docs would tend to disagree.

That's why you need a sturdy bike pump and a bag of ball bearings. Give brain-dead cagers something to think about. The more of them who learn to give cyclists a wide berth, the safer riding will become.
It's usually not the cyclist's fault, but rather the fault of some brain-dead bint in an SUV yappin' on her cell phone and concentrating on her makeup. Or some weenie shaving while driving (yep, I've seen it). Last edited by spdrun; 07-02-2012 at 11:41 AM. |

It's all ball bearings these days.

Quote:
Stick to paved exclusive bike trails and ride like you have some active brain cells, little impact. The rails to trails are simply railroad tracks paved for bike riding. There isn't much in the order of gradient changes. However, if possible ride armed. I'm concerned about critters, but there have been reports of unscrupulous types stalking rails to trails.
