Obama disses Bain?

Yet he hires his budget director from them?

It's the ol' Good-Bain, Bad-Bain routine.

DNC gets lots of cash from Bain and its subsidiaries.
Is why several Dems were crying about Obama dissing them.
I wonder why this isn't making its rounds.

Let me speculate how Bain made its money.

1. Investigate companies who had some good characteristics, perhaps a good product but were not making money.

2. Buy them.

3. Reorgainize them. (That means fire a lot of people and perhaps put in your own).

4. Reduce staff.

5. Strip the company of any sellable assets.

6. Shut the company down or export the whole shebang off shore.

So They make money by taking jobs away from ordinary people, taking their money and putting it in their own pocket, right?

So in essence Bain is kindof like Robin Hood but in reverse?

Steal from the poor and give to the rich?

Well Tom, you are correct, but in only a small percentage of the cases that Bain has handled. You forgot to mention the ones that they saved, thus saving jobs.

You have to look at the big picture, not just the part that suits your political needs.

Copy and Paste from the DNC?

Its a perfection distortion of what they did. As Larry responded, most of their money was made by SAVING companies and the JOBS.
A successful economic policy--unlike anything President Obama has in his heart.

It all came from my head.

YOu know how many companies they saved and how many they picked clean to leave dead?

Please post a reputable source.

According to the WSJ, ( OK source??), its difficult to compute the long term results. They went with an 8 year period, ( should Bain be penalized if they "repair" a company, and then the owners run it into trouble again, after Bain left?) and Bain was roughly 50/50. You need to recognize they only invested in risky companies to start with. Companies that were well-run didn't need, or attract Bain's involvement. Also remember that Bain invested their own money--not tax money and picking winners and losers.

I'd put that record up against Obama's attempts in the solar alternative energy industries--and he used MY money for that--not his own.

Obama should stick to his areas of experience and go back to community organizing.

Chances are that near 100% of the companies that Bain was involved with would have tanked without Bain. Saving 50% should be regarded as a huge accomplishment, not denigrated.

Jim

There you go Jim, muddling up such a good media spin with logic! The B.O. spin machine has everything all laid out for a really good cock & bull diversion with the media all too happy to spin it even more, and here you are spoiling it with solid logic.

You have to realize that B.O. NEEDS this diversion to hide the miserable failure of his economic policies. This is only one of MANY such diversions that the MSM will be fueling for B.O. in the coming months.

Diversion? Look who's all up in arms about it...same deal with the "self made" thing. You're biting the worm yourself.

Nope! I'm not much more of a Romney fan than the libers on this forum. My vote is AGAINST B.O., not FOR Romney.

It won't matter anyway, because with a press that is waiting with baited breath to proliferate any diversion that B.O. throws at them, it will be very close to impossible for anyone to beat him. As long as he keeps the press diverting attention away from his miserably failed economic policies, he wins by a comfortable margin.

If we had a fair press in this country, it would most certainly have a much different outcome.

No, they would have muddled along in their own simple way. Bain looked for companies to either loot or to grow, and the looting was easier.

Check out Safeway and Grayhound. At one point oil companies were subject to these corporate raiders so they started to merge so they would be too big to take over.

The formula was simple: Find a publicly traded company with a lot in it's pension fund, take out a loan to buy 51% of the stock, sell enough assets to pay back the loan and then clean out the pension fund. And it's all legal!

Why do you think companies stopped funding their pensions? Nothing to raid means no raiders.

I don't begrudge Romney for doing business in this way, I just think it is weird for him to talk about all the jobs he created when he clearly did not have that in mind.
