That was the way I understood it too. Thanks for clearing it up.

You have still made me feel pretty sleezy as I sit here sipping on this Bud Lite Lime "Lime A Rita" on rocks. Now if I can entice the lovely Ms. engatwork to slip into something a little sleezy I'll be set.

Did I tell ya'll that when she gets mad at me she makes me have sex with her twice in a row. Try that once you get past 55 - yikes. I make sure I don't make her mad - LOL.

It amazes me how my words are twisted on this forum.

I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I think that none of these things are healthy and there's no way to know if there is a connection, but I am a VERY healthy 63 year old and attribute at least some of that to living a clean life.

I think that ILLEGAL drug use is sleezy because it is, well, ILLEGAL!

I don't think drinking in moderation is good for you, but I don't think it is sleazy. I choose not to do it, and think it should be unnecessary, but it is a legal activity as is smoking. This makes it MUCH different than Illegal drugs in my mind.

I'm sure my words will continue to be twisted and parsed, but that is my summary.

I guess I do not understand the legal/illegal thing. There are things that are illegal that make no sense to me (marijuana) and I see no issue with it and there are things that are legal that make no sense to me (cigarettes). The fact that something is legal or not is secondary to my common sense regarding the rightness or wrongness of an action. After all, these laws are made by politicians and we know what in low regard they are held. Why would what they determine to be legal/illegal affect how you view an action

As I have already pointed out, the antioxidants and one other chemical in red wine are beneficial in the prevention of heart disease. Marijuana at the very least has some clearly proven medical benefits, is non-addictive (unlike some legal prescribed drugs) and has limited harmful side effects. Why such a drug is completely illegal and other drugs which are harmful are legal makes no sense.

I do not understand the emphasis you place on legality and the apparent disregard you have for the benefit/harm caused by a drug.

You are obviously mistaken in this situation.

Haha, once when I was in Hamburg this old guy told me about the hood ornament on MB cars. He said it's a peep-sight for chasing people back onto the sidewalks. He absolutely hated jaywalkers.

Cut Larry some slack, he's right that alcohol is bad.....

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, approximately 35,000 Americans die each year from the health effects of consuming alcohol.

The U.S. Department of Justice estimates that 25-30% of violent crimes in the United States are related to the use of alcohol.

About 97,000 sexual assaults each year on U.S. campuses are alcohol-related, according to a study published in the Annual Review of Public Health in 2005.

On the other hand Larry has lumped in cannabis with "drugs" which is somewhat laughable and showing his ignorance on the subject.

The results of the largest case-controlled study ever conducted to investigate the respiratory effects of marijuana smoking and cigarette smoking were released in 2006. Not only was marijuana smoking not associated with an increased risk of lung cancer, but it was not found to be associated with lung-related cancers at all, even among subjects who had smoked up to 22,000 joints in their lifetimes. The study’s lead researcher, Dr. Donald Tashkin at the University of California at Los Angeles, offered, "We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer … What we found instead was no association at all, and even a suggestion of some protective effect." What the latter part of that quote means is that people who smoked marijuana actually had *lower* incidences of cancer compared to non-users of the drug.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control does not even have a category for deaths caused by marijuana.

The U.S. Department of Justice does not track violent acts related to marijuana use, as the use of marijuana is not associated with violence.

Enough with facts though, through my experience I can say that pot smokers tend to have a strong sense of community and are eager to be helpful and charitable. Some of the most intelligent and creative people I've known were regular pot smokers. The word sleazy doesn't even come close to describing them. I'll bite my lip naming the type of people it does describe.

Alcohol is not bad in and of it's self. There actually are some benefits to drinking alcohol. There is science to back that claim up. Abuse of alcohol is bad. There is also science to back up that claim.
