Paul Ryan for VP

Drudge is reporting Romney will announce his choice for VP this morning and Paul Ryan will get the nod.

Not a bad choice IMHO but I still think he doesn't have a prayer.

Paul Ryan = Snake Oil Salesman.

Ryan is a smart choice for Romney because people see him as "serious." That reputation will help Romney because he is well on his way to looking anything but. If Obama wins in November, then I believe the choice of Ryan will be highly beneficial for the country because the campaign will expose the supposedly serious Ryan for the mean-spirited, arrogant fraud that he is. If the media do their job (a big "if"), people will see that the so-called Ryan "plan" is all ideology and no substance.

Watch for Ryan to try to portray all substantive criticism of his "plan" as negative, personal attacks. The Romney campaign has already laid the groundwork for that strategy with all of their whining about the negative ads that the Obama side has been throwing at him.

Ryan is an empty suit. I hope the Obama campaign is ready to expose him as such.

Interesting how the sides position themselves. Bad that we are the chips in the game.

And I guess Joe Biden would be your example of a 'big-thinker' eh?

Make sure you Ti-vo vice-presidential debate on October 11, on the other hand given your ideology I'm guessing it won't matter.

Speaking of ideology isn't it impossible to have a 'plan' without involving ideology at some level? I guess the alternative is to just make random choices by putting all the available options into a hat and then just picking them out?

I've looked at the Ryan plan and I see a great deal of substance. Since you appear to be a person that is bothered by the lack of substance and seriousness maybe you could help me out by telling me exactly what Mr "I'm going to cut the deficit in half in my first term" plan is to deal with our annual 1 trillion dollar deficits?

He seems to be pretty good at making promises but he seems to be lacking in substance and seriousness when it comes to actually DOING anything about it. If I wasn't a more open-minded person I guess maybe I'd consider accusing our president of being an 'empty suit' and not serious about the issue.

Please don't respond by telling me the Ryan plan doesn't actually balance the budget in the next 10-20 years, I realize it doesn't but at least it moves us in the right direction.

Ryan’s Plan Adds $3.1 Trillion to the Deficit; Adds More to the Deficit than Under Current Law. “Ryan’s blueprint, ‘The Path to Prosperity,’ would add $3.127 trillion to the deficit during the decade spanning 2013 to 2022, according to a table on page 88 of the plan. The Congressional Budget Office estimated in its March 2012 projections that if “current laws generally remain unchanged,” the federal government would incur deficits totaling $2.887 trillion from 2013 to 2022. In other words, Congress would save more money over the next decade if it allowed current law to continue than if it adopted Ryan’s budget.” [The Hill, 3/20/12]

Another career politician totally out of touch with the real world. Considering Romney touts his real world business experience and bashes Obama for not having it, I'm surprised at the choice.

I would have much rather had Christie. Can you imagine the things he would say?

Christie would have cast too big a shadow and not just physically. President Romney and VP Christie are both at a party. Who's getting the most attention?

Wonder if the "base" has come around to Ryan's little scheme? This couldn't be better!

If Romney were smart he'd check his ego and go for the person who will bring him the most independents or a big swing state so he can win the election. Wisconsin is only 10 electoral votes.

Christie would have brought in a wave of independents, Rubio would have given him a fighting chance in Florida, a huge swing state.

All he's doing with the Ryan pick is reinforcing his conservatism, which we know he has a terrible record with but conservatives hate Obama so much they would have held their nose and voted for him anyway.

I find it telling that in a nation as diverse as the US that the RNC chooses a white Christian male to run as VP.

Kinda sad to see what's happened to a party that used to represent at least a part of mainstream America.
