Does Iwrock do or use anything in a manner that could be considered normal?

So tell us, what are your plans from here? Something tells me it won't be just a replacement of the gaskets back to factory...

Hate to read about losing the head gasket.

I own a 97 Ford F150 extended cab truck. About 1/2 of the warning lights on the dash are lit up but it runs and drives good. Front rotors are badly warped so stopping is always an adventure. I use it as a mobile trash can.

I was overtaking, and going WOT. Caught a whiff of burnt coolant, and pulled over as soon as I could. Popped the hood, and the de-gas bottle is puking coolant.

Drat

Not mixing coolant and oil, but am getting combustion gasses in my coolant.

It was normal use.

Plans for now - find a good competent guy that is willing to pull the cab and tackle the job.

It should look stock! The shopping cart currently has a cam, rollers, push-rods, rocker arms, head studs, head gaskets, springs, pistons, oil cooler, and new high pressure fuel pump. Possibly some pistons if the cost to install them isn't too insane.

That sounds like my 6.4...

I'm also curious about this. Of course, iwrock bought this truck used recently, so it could have already been turned up before he bought it.

Going to a GM is no solution, it happens to them as well. I'm still curious if it has been turned up.

Why not?
He just got rid of a duramax, which had held up under his paticular brand of driving without imploding for the last several years.

This incident causes me not to trust the 6.4. A WOT passing event on a nearly new truck causes a head gasket to blow, without a trailer? No thanks. Id either go back to my old truck drivetrain that worked, the duramax, or if i wanted to stay ford, buy a last year 7.3 instead, which is indestructable.

Nope. Got it sorted out, but never put the tune on.

70k.

Thinking another Duramax may have been a safe bet. Or maybe a Cummins.

Or maybe a Cummins.

How about definitely a Cummins. Spend some time here watching videos: POWERSTROKEHELP.COM - The Information Source for Ford Power Stroke Diesel Owners & Mechanics. Too bad he's so far away from you.

The 6.4 is probably the worst diesel engine ever put in a pickup. Get that thing back together and get rid of it fast.
