I'm sorry to read this. I always enjoyed his uplifting posts about the institution of marriage.

So - please chime in with any memories you've had or shared with Jim over the years!

I'll post some later on today (I'm getting teary eyed writing about them, and it's making it tough to write) - he's been a true friend and one that's been there since the beginning!

That's my best memory of Jim going forward.

Haven't met Jim either in person, this comes as sad news.

As a perfect stranger I can say that the thing I enjoy the most about him is his enthusiastic appreciation of the motor vehicle and road trips.

I love his massively over-sized photos of cars hes driven and hope he is as comfortable as possible and surrounded by good friends and family

I have had several very pleasant and lengthy email exchanges with Jim and consider him a trusted friend in spite of the fact that I have never had the pleasure of meeting him in person.

I had an email from him not long ago in which he mentioned that he had some health problems, but I did not realize how serious. I know that some really good things have happened in his life recently, before having to face this. I'm glad he was able to see this joy before his health took a turn.

Here's wishing all the best to someone who absolutely deserves all the best!

Here's wishing Jim good luck, and all the other members of our slightly dysfunctional forum family, the best of health.

Just checked my phone records, I spoke with Jim on March 20. He sounded very Jim like, nothing in his manner would give you a hint anything was amiss. He sounded comfortably resigned to his fate - no whining, no boo-hoo-ing.

Jim's a good ol' boy. We had 4 meetings over the years, on the last he came to my place and gave me a lift over to the shop where I get tricky stuff pressed on. Great shop, cool dude runs it, we had a good time BS-ing with him. Then he let me drive his new 5 series to a seafood joint where he insisted on picking up the tab.

Take care Jim, we'll remember you.

Very sorry to hear about Jim's health issues. He is a true believer in Mercedes Benz. He has shared some great and well written stories on the forum over the years. Condolences and warm wishes to you, Jim and your family. If you feel like typing, we'd all love to hear from you!!!

I clearly remember Jim B. was amongst the first people to show up at the end-of-trip celebration in Emeryville, CA. We became friends since then, and talked all things Mercedes, from wheel choices, to obscure factory jerrycans, to the Japanese parking markers. Last time I saw him he let me drive his thundering 560SEC in Hollywood, right after dinner at Canter's Deli. Such memories!

Is he in hospice? I'd like to send him a card.
