I'm building up parts to get it up to snuff... brake cylinders, dual master cylinder, ignition points, battery cables, and so forth...carburetor kits for all three carbs. a spare set of rims so I can mount new tires on one set and keep these pristine Michelin tires from about 1979 or so for showtime.

New shocks.

I might put air bags in the rear springs and a quicker steering box. I understand a 95 jeep (something) is a bolt in replacement and eliminates a couple turns lock to lock.

I liked the boat comment. I'd put a Pertronix electronic ignition in it instead of points. It will fit inside the distributor.

the parisienne was made clear back in the 50's.and i used to have a 69 beaumont which was the canadien chevelle.the acadian was the nova body.my 69 beaumont had a 350 chevy, pontiac lemans dash and interior.the grilles resembled a 66 le mans and the tail lights had 3 bars across them.
as for you looking for a set of wheels check out that web site i posted they sell rims and drums BUT i do not think the sell the special hold down plate for the spare tire, which also was used to help mount the tires on the rims as the old tire machines had a shaft up thru the center to clamp down.not much of an issue these days with the rim clamp machines.also i have heard that someone makes 15 inch 8-lug wheels.AND roush racing used to make a disc brake conversion for them.

Oh, yeah, you can buy 16,17" rims for the 8 lugs...for a price.

The first Chevy IIs were indeed called the Acadian in Canada. However, for 1964-65 the first Canadian Chevelles were named the Acadian Beaumont. In fact, back in the mid '70s, I saw one of those parked near my home, here in Northern Virginia. Then for many years, I wondered why I never saw another one, until I found out it was a Canadian model!

Happy Motoring, Mark

I would eyeball the brake hoses as soon as you can. My father once went on a thrill ride in a 1964 Imperial equipped with a single circuit brake system when one of the brake hoses popped. He wound up having to drive through a gas station to avoid traffic and nearly turned an attendant into a new hood ornament.

In the storage lot where I keep my camper there was once a mid 60's Chevy school bus converted to a motorhome by an old couple. They were doing some renovations on it and I started talking to them. It had a single cylinder brake system which had failed and they had driven it to Denver from AZ by downshifting and using the handbrake. I told them I thought it was dangerous and they should swap the single cylinder system out for a dual cylinder one. One day I saw them pulling out and they said they were heading on the road again. I asked about the brakes. They still weren't working but it didn't seem to phase him at all. No idea where they ended up.

I popped a brake line on my nearly cherry (at the time) 51 caddy hearse. Luckily I was coming up to a light and braking only lightly instead of in an emergency. The hand brake worked very well so it was a no drama failure, but it was a wakeup call. I have never felt very good about single cylinder masters since. I have converted at least three vehicles since then from single to double....a jeep, a bronco and a 64 Studebaker. Its a pretty easy 2 hour job and all the fittings are readily available. You have to choose your replacement cylinder with care to match the diameter of the existing. Its also easy to change your pedal ratio....IE if you have to push too hard to stop you can swap in a mater with 1/16" smaller diameter for more mechanical advantage.

And guess what--the bogus file uploading has once again foiled my uploading attempts.
I wish they would straighten out the bs problems with picture loading.
I aint got the patience or equipment to "resize" crap.
usta be able to load them with the exact same camera, and now its off again. #$%^&%^*%$^$%~@#~@!^*&the

After the shakedown run where I saw this big potty-akk.
I went to the east coast a few weeks back--- from Va all the way up to Maine. and met Joe Soosby -- who is a member of the stude owners of America, he has 47 of them---up in Searsmont, east of Augsta.
Damn near to Acadia National park.
