yea -that was very similar to my first antique truck , a 37 GMC wrecker that had a Reliable brand hand crank wench on the back.

like the knuckle head that I am, first swap meet that came along,, I hauled the hand crank unit out there and sold it to recoupe some money.

I don't know what I was thinking............................

if there is one thing EveryMan needs, its a reliable wench

I still have done nothing with my Pontiac. Too busy doing other emergency things....haven't taken the grandkids to the ice cream store once in it.

Labor Day's coming up! You want to have to make them don parkas in order to go?

Nothing like a reliable wench. I especially like the hand-cranked ones.

This week I finally got the Bonneville out to my Indie's place. They're installing the double master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new belts, a few new hose clamps, a few new brake lines, new u joints, new gas filled shocks, new chrome valve covers and gaskets, rebuilding the carbs and so forth.

I have ordered four more lap belts for the grandkids, and some correct engine paint.

I'll be heading to the ice cream store any day now!

Wooo hooooooo!

Am I recalling correctly that the backside of those two-piece wheels function as the brake drums? I was going to suggest a front disc brake conversion otherwise...

The center of the wheel is actually the outside of the brake drum....correct.

roush racing used to make a disc brake conversion for the 8-lugs.basically what they did was to take a back drum and cut off where the brake shoes run .back when i saw them they wanted like 3k for the kit to do it.don't think they do em anymore, but there is a company that makes 15 inch wheels.and a place in chicago jr relining relines the drums and sells complete sets.
