What a talented kid! Great pace. Usually, it's hard not to sound mechanical at a young age, but he sounds quite soulful!
I used to play piano. Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue is among my bucket list favorites; need to learn how to play it if it's the last thing I do!

Good stuff Kuan. The classics are great foundation for whatever genre one might want to go into. I saw Keith Jarrett live one time, I think it was maybe late 80s. He had a solid foundation of the classics.

The sooner the better. Don't delay. I play guitar fairly well, I know chords, and a smattering of theory, but playing piano takes time, it's a different animal.

One of the final scenes in "Groundhog Day" where he's playing piano at the big dance, that's one of my all-time favorites. That guy was smokin' on the ivories.

Kuan, the kid’s got chops.

Hopefully you’ll encourage him to join a band that does contemporary music (pop, jazz, r&b, rock, etc.) at least part of the time to keep the fun in the process.

I grew up and went to school with a number of serious classical musicians and most of them burnt out on classical by the time they were done in college due to the boring and unbelievably highly competitive nature of classical music.

Of about 20 friends who were music majors in school, I know of, 3 who still play regularly. One is in a first rate symphony and she also has her own band for fun, and another plays in 3 local rock bands and completely abandoned classical, while the 3rd is a high school music teacher. He also plays in a jazz band.

Very, very nice!
He appears to be about 15 or 16. When did he start playing?
I love piano music, but can't even play chopsticks.

One of my favorite non classical pieces. Valery Kuleshov' s interpretation of Horowitz's Stars & Stripes Forever.
Check out the ladies @ 1:19 and 2:20.

He's thirteen.

And to the rest of you, thank you. He's bright and he works hard at it.
