Attempting to keep old age at bay is probably worth the effort. I am in to in now myself at 75. Old age that is.

I am not frail or weak. Just lack stamina now. A couple of hours work today gathering up stuff for the seasonal collection was about all I want. The effort would have been meaningless a few years back.

There is no way I can reverse this. I think we in general just wear out with time. Probably for my age I still am not that bad off.

I have not talked with a lot of older guys but suspect it is typical. I have no wish to eventually eventually land up in some kind of care facility. Nor overload the wife. She is also starting to feel her age at 70.

To me when you can no longer really easily do things you have done all your life it in some ways changes.

Well, the other shoulder finally gave out, after years of abuse. I had surgery on it back on the 15th. This one wasn't near as involved as the last one, nor is recovery as painful. As the doctor described it, he went in and did some house cleaning...removed the bursae, ground down bone spurs, polished back the tip of the collar bone a bit, and shaved back some of the frayed edges of the rotator cuff. I was in PT on the 2nd day after surgery, and out of the sling by the 7th. It's stiff and painful, but thankfully the pain is different than it was.

The good thing is that I'll be back to being able to use both arms by car show season. I've got the 107 and 3 trucks to choose from to work on now. I had to cut my ability to work on the stable early last year, due to the pain...can't easily turn a wrench when the arm wont work as it should...

After this heals, I begin the search for a back surgeon. Lately, I haven't been able to sit in any chair without going numb from the waist down, and having a dead leg until I can move around again. This has been happening for years, but has been getting worse.

Good luck!

I’ve had my shoulder scoped twice for Level 2 SLAP lesions . The first one was so bad that my bicep tendon had to be worked on. Back then the PT was quite rigorous. The second one was just as bad. I’ve accepted the fact that I just have to live with the discomfort and have declined any further surgery because the post-op is more than I want to deal with. Same with my back. I’ve watched my wife go through two and I’ll wait until it’s either a wheel chair or surgery.

One month and 3 days since left shoulder surgery, and all is great. The only issue I am dealing with now is muscle tightness and relearning how to use the shoulder without joint pain. I apparently compensated for the pain, and have been unconsciously moving it wrong.

My PT appointments are no longer needed, but my PT exercises still are being done...and will be for awhile until the muscle tightness goes away.

I highly recommend anyone with shoulder paint to go to a surgeon and have it worked on. My right shoulder is stronger and pain free...more so than it was when I was a teen, and had a compound fracture of the right collar bone. I can feel my left shoulder getting to that point...but it will take awhile longer to get there.

I can hardly wait for the warm weather to get here so I can get back to work on my project vehicles. Now that my shoulder has been done, I should be able to do more and work on them for a longer period than before...so long as my back can keep up with me.
