cable company greed

Can't believe in my area 4 stations will go off the air, cause cable bought them out. They want you to be wired,or have a sat supplier..
I look for this to happen nationwide soon, probably radio too.

They don't care about you, they care about "shareholder value".

I/we now pay $120/month for DTV per wife request. I say change to DishTV or who ever has a package for $49.99 with a two year contract. Then when they jack you up like I know they will switch back for their best offer.

Not an answer to why your local stations will cease to exist, but if enough people demand they be included in their bundle they may survive.

You also need to look at the state of the news paper industry.

Careful with the $49 deals. They generally end up as $150 deals.

kinda funny you mention that.last summer a guy stopped out at my house in the country.saw i had a dish network dish.asked if i wanted to lower my payments. said sure.he then says he works for a broker for dish, direct, hughesnet etc.said he could get me hooked up to direct on a 2 yr contract for the 49.99.
when that 2 yrs is up they would switch me back to dish on their 49.99 plan and then every 2 yrs switch.i would do it but then i would have to figure out all the different channels etc.i'm too old for that crap.

I stream for 35 bucks a month and get all the same channels. Haven't really had a reason to look back.

I get all the stations I like on Playstation Vue. Streaming at 35/month. Dumped DTV over a year ago. I still get weekly junk mail from them offering me a 40 dollar a month discount off any plan for life and a 200 dollar gift card.
