Film "Minority Report"

Just got back from the pictures where I watched "Minority Report", a new Dreamworks/Tom Cruise film (you can tell I didn't get lucky by the fact that I'm here right now).

Any of you who've seen this film, what did you think?

I thought it was pretty challenging (for a populist film), haunting (if that isn't too much of a cliché), and very entertaining. In fact it was the best film I've seen for some time. Even Tom Cruise was quite mature this time.

Did everyone else who saw it jump out of his skin at the same time as I did? Jeepers, I got quite a fright at that moment (won't spoil it for anyone by saying when).

I'm posting my report because I'm left with a residual curiosity about the film. There is something fascinating and very sad about the "pre-cogs" that has left my quite unable to explain my response.

I'd be interested to hear what you guys thought.

PS: for those of you who haven't seen it, there's not much "love action"

Unhappy

I wasn't too fond of the movie, Minority report. I thought MI-2 was a better movie.

I liked it quite a bit. It was very unique and entertaining, plus it had a great director.

I think Minority Report is the best Sci-Fi to come out in quite a while. Did not look at all like Spielburg. Definatly a lot of the Kubrick influence that he picked up during A.I. Of course working with material from as great a writer as Philip K. Dick is a great start. Movie special effects are just now getting to where they can portray the worlds envisioned by Dick. I think it may be time to do a remake of Bladerunner. My only gripe with Minority Report was the amount of time devoted to making sure we saw the cars of the future are all Lexus. I will hold out for the diesel powered jet car!:)

I really liked it. The Big Brother metaphors were done very well. You can just see that stuff coming...maybe 4-5 years...ungh.

At least there is still some driving-action in the future, Lexus or not. Looked pretty high speed, too.

Gotta love the eye transplant scene. Hey, why wasn't he blind in that eye after the spider opened up the bandage before 12 hours? Or maybe he was?!

Great flick. Will probably go watch it again to catch some of the subtleties that I missed the first time.
