I understand the point you're making, but have to differ.

Let's say their is a company in the US that supports a cause that I don't believe in. The only way I can influence a change in that company is by not buying their products. Of course, by not buying their products, I indirectly affect the lives of those innocent employees that merely manufacture the products, but don't decide what causes their company endorses. How else would I be able to influence that company? Write the CEO and say that I don't support his causes but also continue to buy his products? That wouldn't yield any result.

Same thing with the French. If enough people stop buying their products, enough of the French business owners will influence their government to stop acting the way it has.

Of course, any sanctions our government takes on the French will indrectly do the same thing to otherwise innocent French citizens. Would you have us not do anything because French citizens may be affected?

For the record, I don't hate the French people. I've been to France and enjoyed it a lot. But if I'm to take any action, this is the most effective thing I can do. I'm not asking anyone else to boycott, just giving the information if someone wants it.
