Custom 126 gauge faces

Here is your chance to get rid of the poor lighting in your 126. The custom electroluminescent gauge faces are $99 and can be ordered at www.speedhut.com Click on model development and scroll down to 560 SEC/SEL. The gauges are a very good buy and very high quality. I have a set of these on my Porsche 928 that were developed by Speedhut. For comparison sake, custom gauges faces that are not lighted are $139 at www.nrauto.com. Order now if you want to greatly improve the looks and quality of you instrument cluster.

I have no affiliation with Speedhut but I do have really poor lighting in my 560 SEC.

I'll be putting my order in.

Even though the top speed is different and the redline is different, I'll deal with it! Any thing for good lighting.

On the site, there is even a way to customize your own gauges!

My choice: White gauge face with blue or red numbers. Looks great at night.

Mike,

You can eliminate the red line when you go through your online purchase. You can also add any logo you want and custom lettering is free. Mine will say 560 SEC V8 Kompressor. I opted for reverse lighting with black face and white Euro font.

Mike,

The extra money for the upgraded inverter is waaay worth the difference. Make sure you spread the word to other 300 owners because I'm sure there are many more people who are tired of the crappy stock Mercedes lighting. Mercedes even uses the electrolumenescent gauges in their 2003 and later cars. Here is a picture of my Porsche 928 gauges I bought from Speedhut on a similar model development program.

Mike,

The upgraded invertor allows unlimited adjustment of brightness as well as offer better control of the multiple colors the eloectroluminescent lighs can change. The one that is included is not very good and I'm surprised they include that invertor with such high quality gauges.

This looks great.

Anyone knows how it fits into the cluster? How does the electrical wiring fit, and does it need a lot of modification? Will I be able to reuse my original cluster gauge if this thing burns-out?

The gauge faces simply attach to your existing faces and you just tap into the positive wiring of your existing illumination. Electroluminescent lights hardly pull any power and the lighting should never burn-out. Mercedes starting using electroluminescent gauges in the 2003 and later models. It seems that NONE of the gasoline W124 cars EVER shared any gauges with the W126 560SEC. The part numbers are different for all three of the gauges - so I'm not sure if the face overlays will fit on a W124.

My gauges are easily viewable,a nd work great with the type 194 Xenon charged superwhite bullbs I put in.

My gauge faces were custom made bya member here, crhenkel@aol.com

Price was great, and he can do any color combo you want.

Mine were done in creme with blue number, red on the redline, hot temp, and empty fuel markers, and black for the lines with red dots for the gear shift points. I also had the tach changed to read 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc. instead of 10,20,30 etc.

Perfectly visible day and night, no problems here. easily installed too.

Just another option for those that dont want to shell out the $100 plus shipping for the glowing ones, which are very cool, but not my taste for my w124.

Alon

Here is how the gauges will look installed. The needles are illuminated by the stock bulbs. I think the speedhut gauges look pretty darn good:
