Dodge Intrepid Sensor

I own a 99 Dodge Intrepid in which a sensor called the output sensor has failed. When it does that, the transmission does not upshift and the speedometer does not work.

This sensor has failed twice in the span of a year. I wanted to keep a spare and be able to change it myself.

Unfortunately, the dealership replaced it both times and I do not know where it is located. Can anybody tell me where this sensor is located. Also, any ideas on avoiding this sensor failing every so often.
