I initially paid the same amount for my 1988. I like the car a lot... good engine + great chassis = great car. Not as fast as the 420 or 560...

Great car, I use to own one. Mine was White/tan. I've been seriously thinking of buying another as of late. It was the entry level S class in the US at the time. But the most economical and least expensive maintenance wise.
Ask if its had a valve job. If not its probably nearing that repair. Just had my 300E done which was overdue. $1300. What color combo is it?

Ran across this in the local paper today: 1986 420SEL 4dr., leather, am/fm/cd, sunroof, alloys, 152K, excel. condition. $5500. If anyone's interested I can give you the number, just ask. I have no interest in this car (its not a diesel:p). Or you can visit the paper online at www.sunone.com and click on classifieds and go from there..
