Other possible shops in UTAH.
International Automotive Technicians' Network; iATN Repair Shop Finder.
http://www.iatn.net/shopfinder/ Bosch Authorized Automotive Service. http://www.boschservice.com/FindSvcCenter/Pages/FindingaServiceCenter.aspx All sponsor members of iATN agree to an ethical code of conduct as part of our obligation to our customers. There is however still the need to check locally on a shop for references. Not all those listed are service shops...some are VoTech's and other specialized businesses. The list now covers the whole world and every continent. Need to bookmark this if your are traveling out of your home area. Those highlighted in 'blue' are sponsor members. ASE—Certifying the Automotive Professional Finding a competent auto technician need not be a matter of chance. Much of the guesswork has been eliminated, thanks to national program conducted by the non-profit National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). http://www.ase.com/bluesealsearch/locator.php Last edited by whunter; 03-06-2010 at 08:28 PM. |

Just had a good experience with a local Salt Lake driveline shop. I took the '74's driveshaft in for a balance job. They have the right fixtures for working on these Benz and BMW style shafts, and they told me they do them fairly often. They straightened the rear tube and balanced the assembly with success - the shaft now runs quiet and smooth.
Here's their information: GRS Drivelines and Differentials 800-595-1753 801-972-1753 930 West 21st St South Salt Lake City, UT 84119

A little late of a reply here, but better late than never?
I took the '96 E300 to Werner's for alignment after rebuilding the rear end. It's a long established business with a good reputation. While waiting I spoke with two other Werner's customers who love the place and have all their maintenance and repairs done there. If I wasn't the kind to be wrenching on my own rigs I'd probably use them myself. As for the E300's alignment, they ended up only taking a measurement. The rear springs sagged and rear camber was beyond spec. They also wanted to install two adjustable bolt kits in the front end. Total quote was just over $800 to replace the parts and do the alignment. I declined having them do the work, and ended up replacing the springs and doing the alignment myself, which is a whole 'nuther story. I got the impression from my small experience over there that they are a good shop. One thing they told me, though, was that they won't install parts they don't sell. So if anyone decides to use them be prepared to pay their prices for parts.
