500E wheels and tires
Just bought myself a nice 500E
I have decided to go 17" and I don't want a staggered setup. Will the AMG Monoblocks in 8.5*17 ET30 with 245/45/17 work fine? Any tire recommendation? I would like comfortable and quite performance tires. Would the Dunlop SP9000 be a safe bet? |

Look at my car on 500ecstacy.com. I have installed a set of R230 wheels in a 17x8.5 ET35 and they fit perfectly with no rubbing, and fill out the fenders perfectly. Look under the "camera" heading under username ashirji. I am using that tire size with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and enjoy both the ride comfort as well as the traction .

I would avoid any Dunlop tire. Have not had any good experiences with any model.

Dunlop SP9000
I ran Dunlop SP9000 tire for 3 years with no problems/complaints. They have excellent treadwear and take a beating.
I have been running Bridgestone S-03s for the past 2 years and I am most satisfied with them of all the tires I have run (since 1996). Pirelli P-Zeros barely last 8 months on my 500E (!!!). If you wish to try a new high-performance tire without paying a premium, I recommend Hankook. Gerry Van Zandt (a member at 500E.com) has submitted an extensive writeup on them. Good luck, |

Any experience with Nitto 555 ?
I noticed RennTech has been using them in their latest ads.
I have had 265/35-18 R and 235/40-18 Dunlop 9000's on my 500E for three years and 20K miles...very pleased with them. Had a bad experience w/225/55-16 Ecsta 712's, out of round and seemed to bounce down the road under the weight of the car.
