I'm considering a 600SEL/S600 to replace my 740iL. My concern certainly isn't power or comfort but sporty handling. I'm very impressed with the way the BMW handles when pressed. Blew off a well driven Volvo turbo last summer on a twisty mountain road. Granted it was a Volvo but it was inspiring nontheless. Question; will swapping springs, shocks, and tires bring this monster to a sporting level or is it just to big and heavy? Has anyone tried an exhaust mod on the V-12? how does it sound?.

Hm...if you really want a sporty sedan, than you might as well stick with BMW 7-Series(Jag. XJR is not a bad idea, too.....but small interior might make you want to stay away). Upgrade to M-Tech 18" should give the 740iL alot of sportiness.....

If you don't mind a interior smaller(well, way smaller)than your current 7-Series, M5, E55, XJR are very good choices to begin with.....

The W140 Series feels too big, heavy and slow and it doesn't handle all that well. Either stick with the BMW, get a 750iL or the latest S Class.

I'm with you Andy, the mid sized sedans really appeal to me but my wife has been badly spoiled with all the legroom in the 740. No Jags, this BMW has been in the shop enough! 750 with the sport package is starting to sound good though. Thanks for the input.

I would go for the new S class rather than the 740/750. From my driving experience and the articles i've read you should be real happy with an S500. You can also put bigger wheels on it to help the steering response.
