C43 6 speed trans?

I would be very interested in getting a 6 speed tranny in my friend's C43. Can anyone here tell me if it's ever been done? or if it's even possible? I'm an ex 5--E owner who moved to an 02 M3 and my buddy can't stand the fact that I blow his C43's doors off. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You want to find out if this guy with a C43 can get a manual transmission installed in HIS C43, because he hates the fact that YOU can blow his doors off. So you want to help HIM get his car to go faster so he can blow YOUR doors off. Is that correct? And WHY? And why isn't he asking for himself?

First of all even if a 6 speed can be installed on a c43 I don't think he'll blow my doors off let alone keep up with me off the line. Why wouldn't I help a friend? I actually sold him the car about a month ago and I would like to drive my old car with a 6 speed if I could. Converting the C43 to a 6 speed was what I was going to do before I decided to sell and buy an M3, besides he's not too computer firendly so I told him i'd look in to getting it done. So if anyone has any information on converting a automatic C43 to a manaul trans plaese adivise. Thanks in advance.

The C43 was never made with a manual transmission, so doubtful this is feasable to do. "Have him" put a Kleeman supercharger in it, that should put you right in the weeds, as if it won't now if he really wants to.

A C43 will not beat an M3 no matter how much the drivers wants to. I hope it would with a $14k supercharger. But thanks for your opinion.

Yah right. Pull a coil or two on your mighty mighty a-hem3 so the poor guy can win a race with his C43. Come on, what are friends for?
Why do you list the 500E as a car you used to own, but not a C43?

I wouldnt say blow the doors off, maybe a 1/2 sec. on the quarter mile? And Im sure the BMWs slower in the upper range anyway. Besides, a manual trans. doesnt remove half a second from the quarter mile, I'd wager it makes most people slower. tell him to get a 3.6X rear end like you and he'll have you owned.

Gilly,
I didn't list the C43 as an owned car because I usually only keep cars for about two to three months, the 500E i had for over two years otherwise I would have a list of owned cars as long as the yellowpages.

Austin,
The M3 is faster then the C43 on the 1/4 mile by 1.12 sec and over a second quicker in the 0-60. I don't know about most drivers but I would think I can launch a manual trans C43 much quicker in both 0-60 and the 1/4. Either way without any engine mods to the C43 the M3 will blow the C43's doors off. I'm not taking anything away from the C43 as it is an awesom car, but it's no M3.
Just my .02

6 speed C43

First of all I have a C43 and what you fail to understand, is that if you have money you can't do anything. My c43 is now a 5.3L stroker 805HP car that would kill every M3 out there even the M3 GTR le man model. I had to rebuild everything on the car but getting back to the tranny. You can put a custom racing 5 or 6 speed tanny in the c43 but you are looking at spending 25k to 30K (all custom). You are better off strengtenhing the stock tanny but you looking to spend about 12k to 15k (custom). By the way, you will never get the 0 to 60 stats of any manual car unless you tried hundreds of time because that is what every car company does.

What in the world have you done to your 5.3L motor to get it to 805hp? I'd imagine you'd have to have an enormous turbocharger that spools late, lower the compression significantly to handle the boost, raise redline to 7000rpm or so, and nitrous on top of everything.

Inquiring minds want to know.

The stock tranny is rated for 426 ft-lbs of torque.

805 hp in a C43. I would not only be interested in the mods that went into that but how much it set you back. That would have to be one insane automobile.

I believe the "modular" M113 V8 shares the same tranny bolt-pattern as the modular V6.

If this is so, then a 6-speed from a SLK320 should bolt-up.
