Yeh full install with factory management, I suspose this is quite old tech now I guess a E55 install may be a touch harder! The same guy has just built himself a new 201 with full 129 SL500 119 and all running gear!

The owner said it was quite a straightforward swop with even the 2.6 exhaust hooking up with little modification! obviously access to a complete unrobbed donor car is the secret to any major conversion. The work would be much easier on a 2.6 because of the different front 6cyl clip with recessed radiator location, amazingly the guy had run the convereted car for five years with standard 2.6 brakes!

Linds - I wish I had seen this!! I'm sure I would have bid on it.

Oh well, Any idea how much it went for?

That SL500 190E sounds good.. are you in contact with him?

thanks

I dont think the car sold he wanted around £1500, he had alot of interest but only got about £850 bid! I tried E mailing several times as the car was in Plymouth so only about an hours drive for me but got no reply. I have a bare 2.5- 16v shell which would be ideal for the running gear. The car wasnt much of a looker being light met blue with aftermarket alloys, but the w140 had apparently only done 30k and I think he had done another 50k since converting. It just goes to show that the conversion even in restrictive RHD is quite practical and doesnt involve to much wizardry.
