Having been a European auto enthusiast for only a short time, but a auto enthusiast forever, it's difficult for me to understand why performance information isn't shared openly among mercedes-benz enthusiast. Questions, such as, why is it so expensive to swap a 3.2 engine into a 190e? The engine are priced between $3500 and $8500. Where does one buy a standard transmission for this swap? Which bellhousing and transmission mate? Is there a scattershield available? What's available for rearend gears. Can you swap the ECUs? Any help is appreciated.

Usually you will find that it is much more cost effective to just buy a more performance oriented car...Like a 2.3-16 or a 500E or something...The tuners that build the performance cars keep the secrets to themselvs. We do have some options, but they are all big bucks. The 2.6 190 was offered with a standard tranny. You should be able to find one at a large MB only junk yard.
