Alain,
I was talking with Steve at BergWerks and he mentioned one problem with the T5/T56 is that the shifter will end up approximately 8 inches forward of the stock location. He has developed a possible solution to this problem and I wanted to bring it to your attention. Glen |

I've got the hots to run a 400E in the V8 Supercar Series, with a 5 litre motor. The 6 speed would be the perfect mate, and at least give a better chance of being somewhat competitive. Keep it as cheap as possible!

Interested!! I converted the 4L60 automatic in my '95 Impala SS to a Tremec T-56 two years ago. It makes a HUGE difference in the "fun to drive" factor.

I did extensive searching on the Web for folks that make a custom bellhousing or adapter so I could make my C43 a manual ... bummer this offer isn't for that engine ...

Would the pedals and stuff from a W201 work? There are a lot more W201 standard's than W123's.

Slight digression, but
Does anyone know if you can bolt the clutch pedal assy from a 124 or 201 into a 107? I'm interested in doing this same conversion in my 82 SL. Thx!

Could you do this for a V8 W202 to any manual ... 6-speed/5-speed Tremec/ZF ... I won't be choosy @ this time ... What I am choosy about is I just want to be able to choose my gear! I don't know the number but I garantee you there will be more V8 W202 owners then just me interested (well, given the price that is ... Me and my wife don't have kids, and my motto is "why save for tomorrow what I can spend today", so I might be an extreme example ). Please consider it. I would be willing to put the car in your hands for a few weeks if necessary. Else there is a very capable speed-shop / customizer I'm using I no doubt could implement the conversion with the custom adapters you produce. This would be a dream come true for me. If so, then a 6-speed from a SLK 320 would be a "bolt-on". The pedal assemblies could be found from a C280 w/5-speed in Europe. You will need a modified drive-shaft, and beef-up the internals of the 6-speed. :-) neil |

However I had the "previous gen" 6-speed in my SLK320 ... ya, klunky; and fragile I broke the linkage once trying to get it in 2nd quickly. Plus, I'm in the process of buying a 5.5L AMG engine to swap with my 4.3L AMG engine, so it =definitly= won't hold up to that... somehting like the tranni that the previous gen M5 uses would suit... |

sorry all,,,,,,,"busy" doesn't even begin to describe my current situation.
(at my "day job" from 8am to 5:30 or so then off to my "cool job" until about midnight every night.) (it's 10:58pm right now and I'm just getting in) I just picked up two more cobra chassis today from the powderpainters, that I need to start on. I'm saving up as much as possible at the moment while I look for a new shop, in the little spare time I have. I just wanted to check in and say that my original post was not a "tease",,,,,and I am planning on a manual conversion set up. Unfortunately, it has been set on the "future projects" list at the moment. Initial data has been collected from 119 series engine, and I "will" get around to it. thanks for your patience, I wish I could check in more often. I post when I make progress. |
