I saw that car on ebay a few months ago with those same pictures. It didn't sell at 17,000 euros. M119 is a pretty tight squeeze, I'd hate to do valve cover gaskets or motor mounts!

To fit that size of engine into that car, wiring everything together to work and function properly, is nothing short of a miracle!

Good conversion shame about the tasteless style

I really appreciate such modifying excellance (engine), considering he used a 2.3 to convert it would of been easier to use a 2.6 with the extra engine space so the guy has my respect for that. Other than the engine and wheels everything else can be thrown away its not big and its not clever. A EVO 1 replica kit would of been better than the not so lovely Rieger kit. Each to theit own i guess.

I don't believe there is extra engine space in a 2.6 as opposed to a 2.3.
They both have the same engine compartments. If you look into a 2.3 there is a lot of room in the front and sides to accomodate the 6 cyl.

The problem with the v8 is its width. He doesnt even have room for the cold air intake.

Sure there is... The 2.6 has a whole different front radiator core support that bowes outward to accomodate the longer block. I put a M116 V8 (3.8L euro) in my old 190E 2.3 and we had to cut the front core support out and fit a 2.6 core support. It was still a tight squeeze but it fit fine. My cousin has a 5.0 M119 sitting in his 190E right now. He's working on the wiring and electronics but it looks like it will work.

Ican take some pics when I go next time. Its in the very beggining stages so I'm not sure if its on the mounts yet or just hanging out in there. I'll see if the original tranny is fitted to it as well.

All depends on which V8 is used

I'm using the original 2.2 diesel core support for my 354" Ford small block powered 190 and it all fits fine. The only alteration I made was to make it removeable as a 2.6 top bar is so that engine R&R is easier. The only special shortening I did at all was to use a special water pump which is about 1.4" shorter. Having the distributor in the front also helps with firewall space.

As the saying goes 'one can put anything into anything with enough time, money and patience, not necessarily in that order' !!

Handles great...

Weight distribution is the same as a C43...52%/48% which works well as the front will understeer before the rear comes around on you.
The front springs are 500SL/cutdown and the rears are 300TE/cutdown. There is a 3/4" (19mm.) adjustable rear swaybar and a 1.25" (31.75mm)X36" adjustable front swaybar on the car. The front shocks are Koni competition double adjustable for compression and rebound while the rears adjustable for rebound only. With 9.5 X 17" wheels and 255/40 and 275/40 tires on the car it sticks very well and easy to drive quickly. Now need to get serious and get the excess weight out and shoot for a goal of around 2700-2750lbs.
Just beating Z-06s on the track is sufficient enough for enjoyment!!

I've taken a ride in Toby's 190E/V8, and even on a motor that's not making 100%, it was passing/pulling on 911's at Roebling Road, and that was the instructor's group (e.g, experienced drivers)!

Toby showed me line in the 500E, and I too was passing 911's, 928's, 944's, Boxsters, and M3's on the straights!

Incredible!

:-) neil
