Just found out that the Lorinser supercharger will be about $16,000.00. Too many zeroes for me.

thats about 160.00 per pony. I would think a stroked engine would be a better choice... more durability.

Yeah, for that money I'd rather get naturally aspirated ponies!

Hell, for that ballpark I'd have someone find me a nice used E55 or 500E with some toys. (or a C36 with twin turbos) Too many "bigger guns" at that price range.

Just my pair of cents...Lee

I got a quote of $13,416 for my ML430 V8 which would push 350hp. That is still enough for me to trade my ML430 in for a ML55. Now If I could afford an ML55, I wouldn't mind spending the money to supercharged that ang get some extra ponies!!

Stillen has one that is cheaper ($7500) for the ML430. See if they can add it to your V8. I think that alos includes other upgrades needed to handle the power.

There is a nice article on M classes in this months motor trend or car and driver one of those anyway they have amg, renntech, stillen
and lorrinsar in there I'd read that article first before dropping the coin for the supercharger best bet if you have 7500 bucks sitting around I'd get the amg. I've had a ton of modified cars with superchargers yes they're quick , but (there's always a but) get ready to play with the engine a little they tend to become finicky requiring tuning etc. My recommendation stick with naturaly aspirated ....always reliable.

I can't help but think, What would happen if I:
1) Buy an ML55
2) Take it RennTech and have them do a complete 6.0 conversion. Have them do there suspension upgrade and leave the interior AMG style (Save some money and the AMG is fine buy my taste. Maybe add some TVs after all this though )
3) Take it to Lorinser and have them do there body kit.
4) Get the Kleeman twin-screw super charger.
5) Some BBS 18x10 with custom 315/45/18.

Darn. That would be sweeeet

I can tell you what would happen! You would probably be getting many requests to have that BEAST written up in Auto Magazines to smash any previous records.

It might be safe to say, that you would also own the Worlds Fastest SUV on the planet, bar none!

Must be nice!

Exclamation Kompressor System " Supercharger for Mercedes "

I have driven the Stillen supercharged ML430, I owned a Lorinser ML430 supercharged, and both times results came short.
The system I am installing comes with intercoolers, 2 additional FUel injectors, Engine management and more.
My ML55 has 342 HP aproximately, the system will bring it up to 498HP with cats, and add up 30Hp more if cats are removed.
I am just finishing the install this week and will share my pictures with all of you guys. We will also be importing them regularly starting January 2002.
Please email me at jbaboun@hotmail.com
Thank you
JB

Did you do 1/4 mile runs or what? Can you elaborate?

Angry Details

Last year around January I ordered thru my friends tuning shop the lorinser supercharger system, I had to ship them the car to California, then 2 weeks after the car was back.
I had to pay for the supercharger, for the exhaust and shipping the car. I received the car and decided to go for a drive, I was excited but when I floored the gas the car would stall a little if fully floored, then the check engine would light up. Later that week I drove an ML55 and compared by racing side by side, I could not believe the difference in every aspect of the comparisons, 0-60 0-100, 0-130 .
I was very disappointed but was lucky enough to sell it one month later.
The Stillen ML430 was in California a little bit more than a year ago and got to drive it while visiting, another big disappointment.
YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY ???????
The systems don't come with a large intercooler and are modest in power increase (meaning around 100hp only). This system that I have installed comes completely different.
Today I took it out of the shop for testing and noticed ML55 results at less than half throttle, I wonder how full throttle will feel when proper tires are installed and everything finished and tightened.
Keep in touch, I will let you guys know when the pictures are up and running.
Thanks

All this talk about superchargers, and money, and reliable horsepower makes me queezy. I think the best bet for the ML430, or any 430 for that matter, is a Renntech high flow air box and ECU upgrade getting about 40 horse for about 5500 bucks. I've seen the dyno charts. Its real horsepower!

Just my two cents, or 5500 bucks!

jbabaun,
Are you installing the Kleeman system? We here at MercedesShop have talked with them and there system looks promising, but pricey. It does have an intercooler and added fuel.

Supposedly it is fast.

What do you think? Would it be worth it to get into this market? I love High performance, if there is a demand, I would love to make some of my living that way once the shop is open next month.
