500e tire advice

I just wore out a set of Firehawks (12k mi). They were excellent, especially in the wet, but had a tendency to wander in straight line driving.
I am ready to buy a new set of tires. What are others using on your 500e's?
Mine are 245/45/17.

Go over to www.500e.com and check out the threads there pertaining to tires on the forums. The subject has been discussed at several points. Many people seem to prefer the Michelin Pilots, but there are higher-performing, longer-lasting tires available for far less $$$.

Cheers,
Gerry

I'm on my 2nd set of Firehawks ... luv them! However, I'm will be looking at the Bridgestone Potenza S0-3s next, just to mix things up a bit. Keep in mind, the Firehawks and the S0-3s use the same manufacturing processes.

Best of luck ...

93 500E Tires - Bridgestone Fusion

I have about 1000 miles on new Bridgestone Fusions, and having a bit of vibration at 65-70 which I expect will be resolved when they are re-balanced. Anybody have any experience with these?

BF Goodrich KDWS for a daily driver.

Excellent in the wet, nice stiff sidewalls, and very good performance even in AutoX situations.

I have successfully but on 245/50WR16 BFG KDWS' on our 500E, and they last!

Well, I have about 3k left on the Firehawks so I dont have to decide right away. Aftr talking to some tire people it appears that the shoulder of the tire is probably responsible for the slight wander. The Firehawk has a pronounced shoulder which will catch on small irregularities in the road surface. Tires with a more round shoulder are apparently not so prone to this. I think I will visit a tire shop to do some visuals, the images on the net dont do a good job at showing cross sections.
