Anyone know if it technically possible to widen fenders on said cars?
Purpose is to accomodate wider wheels without the sticking out hot-rod effect :-)If it is possible, who does it and what is expected typical cost.
Thanks in advance
farrukh

any cars fenders can be rolled. Tirerack rents a device for this purpose. Have a boddyman do it though... and be prepared to paint (possibly), especially if the paint is old. It may crack...In the old days we used to do it with a baseball bat (not on a benz)Someone would drive the car while some else started with the thin end of the bat and progressed distally...using the tire to push out the fnder. Works best on a hot day.

On the front, you can just bolt on a pair of 500e fenders and front bumper. They have a very "distinct" flare to them. The rear would require quite a bit of work though...
Maybe "cut" the rear flares from the rear 1/4s of a crashed 500e & graft them onto your body? HMMMMMM, I dunno, You probably need to talk to a good bodyman.

The CEC showroom in Beverly Hills, CA
widened my friends vehicle and did a good job. I think they used a special tool.

I'm pretty sure it's VERY VERY involved putting 500E front fenders on a 300E. Much more to it than fenders and a bumper...different sills, lower panels, fender wells & seals, etc. Not for the faint of heart.

As to the rears, on a 500E the flaring began with the rear doors and worked into the quarters...all 500E-specific parts.

Soryy for not having good news Farrukh; what about AMG stuff? Remember, the AMG Hammer was a 300E!

I have a 1990 300ce-24v, that I have modified extensively and one of the mods is flared fenders. I have taken the w124 500e fenders and put them on the front, and i had custom fabricated rear fender flares which have the exact specifications as the rear fenders of a 500e. Thus, my car is a 2 dr 500e without the big engine. Also, to do that front end, I had to change the whole front end because where the fenders flare it does not meet the front spoiler, so I had to put a whole 500e front end on it, which looks VERY agressive

You can just cut the fender and smooth out the sharp edges carefully.

Use fronts...

I have a pair of front section flares that almost fit perfectly by using the right front on the left rear and the left front on the right rear. The edge that fits the bumper is almost perfect and used 124 front fenders are very common! Use 500E rear inner 1/2 panels to complete the expanded flare. This gives one a flare to start with that matches very close. Look at the front flare and see how much larger it is, then cut a template to match the curve.
You'll see that no one would notice the difference!
