Drive the 240D for a bit and then the 260E will feel like a rocket!

Last year my Uncle let me take his 500hp Vette for a ride. Going from a 300SDL to a 500hp Vette is a huge difference! I was doing 80 down my street before I relized it!

Btw I checked out the new Shelby Mustang at the NY auto show. It is really nice, it is worth the wait!!

Haha I'm done with the 240D I drove that every cold/rainy day since the day I turned 16 now I gave it to my brother who just got his license. I work at a shop part time and I dropped an 860 Hennessy in '96 Viper last summer dynoed it at 857hp with 921 torque. The gas/clutch were really touchy when we first dropped the motor in...I almost hit 50 getting the car from the garage to the lot which is about 50yards of narrow driveway. If being so fast that it's not fun is possible, it would be that car that would do it for me. That thing had death written all over it when I saw that the owner was 16 years old and his millionaire dad bought it for him. I'd have to say I'm counting down the days before the Shelby hits the street. I have dreams of it and the Bassani exhaust I'm welding on in my head during those long and boring history lectures!

Around $40k is what I've been hearing too so far. It shouldn't be much more than the '04 SVT Cobra's. I got some time to do some saving. My dad is going to give me about half the money for graduating college and the other half/insurance I will have to gather up some how. I have a bad feeling that I may have to put a few of my toys on the chopping block, most likly the boat first or at least maybe I'll trade it in for a jet ski and get about $10,000 for my pocket. I don't care how I do it but come fall '06 and there will be a new baby in the garage.

Just hope that dealers don't mark up the price for their "market adjustment".

This gentleman seems to have mounted a supercharger to his 190E 2.6 which is I believe the same engine that you have. In the thread he said that he is willing to offer details to people and said he did it for around $400 so that looks like a pretty good option. Knowing someone who has done it before is quite a help. If you run low boost of say around 3-4 psi you could probably get away with the stock system with a little extra fuel during peak boost periods. If you know how or know someone that can weld/shape brackets etc I would go for it.
190e m103 supercharger almost complete

Muffler's, intakes, chips etc. gobble up cash quick and don't provide much improvement on older MBs. However, the newer supercharged/turbocharged systems respond very well to chips.

Good luck!

trying to impress your friends.

thats your problem.

as everyone else says, start with a v8 car, or get a 190E and install a 3.2 or V8 in it.

Since Toby hasn't done it yet, here are some frames grabbed from the time Toby gave me a ride in his 190E-5.0L at the Porsche Club Event at Roebling Road, GA.

Nothing like pulling AWAY from a Porsche 930 turbo in a 190E . . .

:-) neil
