Hello All:

The colour is called "beryll metallic". I've put a few more pics on the website, as well as some links to articles on the 500E/E500 and lots of specs. Enjoy

I've been playing with my photo program and can share a few pics of the racing harness. The stock belts are still used and the rear seats can also be used.

Thanks Chuck:

It sometimes seems like a never-ending job to keep a car looking "new", but the collective wisdom here at Mercedes Shop really helps. Thanks to a tip in the Detailing forum, I have the shift console wood panel off to rub it out with plastic polish and restore the scratch-free sheen.

I'm thinking of covering the panel in a thin clear plastic film because that wood is most vulnerable to scratches. I'll post a note if it works.

yeah, I'm having a lot of trouble dealing with scrathes in the wood trim. Especially around the gear knob and the window buttons.
If you find a solution, please post..

I had badly scratched wood in both of my cars. After mucho time spent getting almost nowhere, I found you can get excellent results with 3M Plastic Cleaner followed by 3M Plastic Polish. I never need to use the cleaner anymore, since I've gotten all the scratches out. Now, once every few months, I simply "wax" my wood with the polish and it has stayed scratch-free. Even with 3 small kids running around!

I've sent three pieces of interior wood trim to Maderia Concepts in Santa Barbara for refinishing. They advertise in The Star MBCA magazine. Two have cracks in the veneer under the varnish and the other (shift console) is just scratched up.

I'll let you know how they turn out but the estimates are about 20% of new parts.

Following Dean's lead I went for a set of the same monoblocks on my '92 500E. They are the same size as Deans (also from King wheels) with Michelin pilot sports. However, I decided I would go for a set of SLK centre caps to add a nice touch.

Lets hope the pics come out, I hope I get the tech bits right.

David:

Awesome pics...the blue SLK center caps compliment your car's colour very nicely.

Any other mods to your sled?

Fronts are 17/8 34mm offset 245/17/45 Michelin Pilot Sports.

Rears are 17/9 29mm offset 275/17/40 Michelin Pilot Sports.

Wheels are RH Alrud Monoblock replicas.

I've added a picture of the halon fire extinguisher installed in place of the center console box. Follow the link to the E500 modifications page.... http://need2speed.web.com
