Anyone upgraded or know of any cross drilled rotors for W210 E-Class other than the $3300 Brembo brake kit?

Sorry for the intrusion Kevin but what do you think of your AVS db's compared to your sp5000's

The Bekkers catalog (www.bekkers.com) lists Stillen cross-drilled rotors for your car however they require you to call for the price.

I have used Brembo cross-drilled rotors from a company called Best Price. They also will cross-drill rotors that you supply them! They're in Ont, Canada.

Precision Auto has cross drilled rotors by Brembo and ATE. They start at like $200 a pair BTW Kevin: I assume that Alpine changer you have will work with the factory MB system. Does it hook to the factory cable or are you using FM modulation? If it hooks to the factory cable, how much did it cost you?

To Yal:
I have not used the SP5000 yet. Will put them on for winter use. However, I like the AVS db much more that the Pirelli 7000 SuperSports they replaced. The AVS dB is truly quiet! The SuperSports got progressively noiser and I was not impressed with the road handling, grip nor wear for the rating it had. To rjnonnie: My Bekkers catalog also says to call and I contacted them two weeks ago and they had no such product. To ss109: The Alpine CD Changers (plus others) can be used with 95-98 MBZ (except ML320) factory head units (pre fiber optic) with a "CD Changer interface adapter" called MBZIL ($85) made by www.peripheral-aamp.com . The Alpine CD changer model # is now the CHM-S620 (retial $330). |

Kevin- I considered cross-drilled, but due to so many of the possible disadvantages (e.g., cracking, warping, eating pads) I went with ATE's PowerDisc which is more of a grooved rotor than a slotted one. It retains more of the surface-area than cross-drilled or slotted, and the groove also let's the pocket of air that develops during heavy braking escape. The grooves also shed water quicker (cross-drilled is SLIGHTLY faster) and serve as a visual indicator when to change discs.
ATE PowerDisc's ran me about $60/each for my 300TE. Good luck, :-) neil |

I have been looking at new high performance braking components for my E430 as well. I prefer slotted rotors over crossed drilled.
The ATE PowerDisc you refer to, do you have a place of purchase or a url for the direct manufacture? |
