Hi, hope this is the right place for this question. I want to lower my car, a 190E 2.3. I just put on 215/45/17's SLK rims and Perilli 7000 Supersports, the front end of the car looks like a dune buggie or a jacked up Mustang hot rod. Other wise the ride is 100% better and it looks great. The rear looks OK though. I was wondering how much to lower the car and also do I just lower the front or front and rear? Thanks!!

I owned a 190D once and I lowered that poor piece of machinery about 6cm in front and 4cm in rear.
I used the number 1 spring pads (8mm) all around and Eibach lowering springs in front & rear.
I had 195/50-15" and 205/45-16" wheels for this car and no problems with rubbing the fenders or so...
Whether the 215/45-17" will bring you in fender trouble depends on the ET# and broadness of the wheels (ET35 and 7,5J I presume).
Lowering the car that much brought me in severe trouble though; I damaged my bumper's bottom completely within 1 year (and 75k km), I had a steel carter protection plate and the exhaust clamp which is mounted underneath the transmission box hit the road on every speed bumb.
Nevertheless it looked great...

I don't know how far the car is to be lowered with your wheels without getting any trouble with the fenders )personally I think the tires will rub the fenders), but someone on this forum will give you an answer you can use.

greetingz,

Hi again!! I am not sure after reading your reply if I am going to lower my car or not. I have read a lot of these post on here and other places where everyone is lowering thier car but no one has said anything about problems. I guess I will see if anyone else replys that has a 190 and see what problem they had before I do it. Thanks again my friend, have a good day!

Dorsey:
Check out the Sportline Suspension article under the "cars" tab above. This was an MB designed suspension for 300E and 190E 2.6. I love the handling, after everything settled in the car was about an 1nch lower, and there have been no problems. Put in a request at PartShop to see if the springs would work, or what they would recommend. MB Doc races a 190e2.3, and there is a feature on his race car under the "Cars" tab as well, so they ought to have some good advice on what will work best. Good luck, and keep that 190 "shiney side up"

Hi and thank you for the information. I will check out the info you gave me. I appreciate your response. My car is so SHINNINE that people ask me if I just got it painted, looks like glass!! It is a great car. I just want to make it a little better. I could also use some advise on low end torque. My car can't beat a Yugo off the line!!! I mean it's kinda slow at a stop light. I'm not looking for super speed, just some ideas on inexpensive low end torque upgrades. I am in the process of making a cool air intake if I get enough info on how to best do it. Any input is welcomed!! Thanks again for your input.
