Anyone out there with a lowered W126?

Ive recently inherited an '85 380SE, and ive noticed that the rear ends sits quite a bit lower than the front end. Ive considered replacing the sping pads, but that might lead to the 4x4 look, with unsightly wheel gap all the way around. Id like to get Eibach springs, as ive had good experiences w/ them on my '96 honda accord. ive jsut replaced all 4 shocks w/ oem bilsteins. Does anyone know how difficult the springs are to install?
they dont look terribly difficult to remove... i have done all the suspension work on my honda, so i guess im fairly mechanically inclined.
does anybody know how much better the handling is?
how much dos the ride change?

any help would be appreciated....

Dan, If you look a the MBUSA CD set, suspension section, you will see that there are 3 different rubbers that will sit on the top of the rear springs, all different thickness, 9.5mm, 14mm and 19mm. This might be a quick and easy way to adjust the ride height. I recently replaced the rear coils on my 91 500SEL and added the 19 mm rubbers ( part number 115 325 24 44 .) This gives a wheel arch to tyre clearance of about an inch and looks fine to me. My tyres are Michelin Pilot HX on 225/60 x 15" on 8 hole alloys. Certainly a cheaper alternative to new racing/performance springs if it's just a leaner look you need.

Dan, I have the same year and model that you do. I am looking to replace my springs with the Eibachs and fit new Bilsteins as well. I would argue that you might want to go ahead and replace the springs anyway as they are probably worn. Just as a test, measure the ground clearance of the left side of the car versus the right side. If there is a greater than minute difference, you need the springs.
