As many of us know, Daimler Chrysler is having trouble. The Chrysler division is going through a sales slump, and bringing MBZ down with it. There is a possibility that the company can go out of business in the future, and that MBZ might have to be break up. could MBZ survive on their own.? I'm getting worried.

I think MBZ can easily survive on its own. what were they doing before the merger.
If you ask me, I think the reason chrysler is losing money is because of the horrible styling of some of their cars. hmm lets see which ones I don't like... wait I don't like any of them... LOL The only vehicles made by chrysler I would buy would be either a Jeep, or a Dodge Truck. the passenger cars are ugly if you ask me, and the build quality is poor. I was at the local jeep/chrysler dealership a while back, and every single chrysler had a bent exhaust tip, and I mean all tweaked up. I don't think I've seen a new plymoth for years, or an Eagle, both of which were by chrysler. Also doesn't chrysler own lamborghini? I also thought that mitsubishi was owned by chrysler or is that the other way around? Plus don't they also own the maserati mark. If I remember correctly, BMW owns some of the old british marks, and I think they still own Rover/Land Rover??? Alon

The Eagle name was retired in 1998, Plymouth was retired last year and Mitsubishi and Chrysler shared engines (and other things) for a while(I think they still do). Chrysler sold Lamborghini in 1989 and the company is currently owned by Volkswagen. Volkswagen also owns Bugatti, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce until 2003(in 03, BMW gets the right to the RR name and VW keeps bentley and the Crewe factory. Long story). Maserati is owned by Fiat and controlled by Ferrari (Fiat owns Ferrari). As for Rover, BMW sold Land Rover to Ford last July. I'm not sure what happened to the other Rover brands but I know BMW kept the rights to the Mini and the new Mini. I think Chrysler will probably have to stop making cars and stick to trucks, vans, and Jeeps. We're in for a very interesting few years in the automobile industry but I doubt DaimlerChrysler will split. If anything happens, Chrysler will be sold (and even that is unlikely).

The North Amercian Car market makes up about 10% of Mercedes worldwide total production. They make everything from military vehicles, buses, trucks, and other heavy equiptment that are sold all over the world except here. There is alot more to MB than what we see here. Recently a VP at BMW reluctantly admited that MB is the only Motor company in the world that can compete in every class of vehicle, from compact cars (smart) to buses and trucks. Also, the troubles the Chrysler division is having aren't much worse than than those experienced by Ford and GM. I ouldn't worry.

i dont think Mercedes would have a problem, they went threw worse times in WW2. demand is the key issue here.
