Dsinger,

not to make ya mad or anything, but I myself would rather save the extra cash and go with non OEM. They look about the same, most anybody out there wont be able to tellt he difference, and the extra cash I will save myself, will go towards ned discs and pads for my car.

To me the tradeoff of price is definately the deciding factor. Sure I would love to be using OEM bosch ones, but at the price I can't justify it when I have brakes to work on too.

Now if I was just going for the lights, and I had no reason to not get the bosch ones I would.

I don't thinkthe aftermarket or non OEM ones will be bad at all.

The clear ones I have now, made by DEPO in Taiwan look fine, and fit just as good as the factory ones.

I myself just plan on changing them to the smoked clear ones when I do my euro headlights. Maker is not a concern if I can save some money. if they end up being crap sooner than the bosch ones, then I will tell you you are correct.

I can tell the fakes from the reals any day. It isn't that difficult. The reals "blend" perfectly. The fakes look a shade or two off. We didn't buy these cars to be cheap. The REAL set costs $85 or so. Not that much more than the fakes... and well worth it.

DSinger and Ashman,

The indicators that I am talkin' about are the smoked indicators. Is there such this as an ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT smoked indicator for the Mercedes? I can imagine that they do sell clear OE indicators for the Mercedes, since they would definitely use them in Europe, but OE smoked indicators? I'm just confused now...the thing is, Ashman pointed me in the direction of the smoked indicators, and from that particular site, and the picture I posted, they are quite beautiful, must more beautiful than the clear indicators in my opinion, especially for a black pearl car. Furthermore, I am just wondering if MHW is a reliable company, makin' high quality stuff. The smoked indicators that they make ARE manufactured in Germany, and not in Taiwan (for those who believe so highly in German quality). So I am somewhat caught in a dilemma.

SKY,

PMG is VERY bad. I blasted them an E-mail a few days ago regarding AMG products for my '95 E420. The person who E-mailed me back thought it was a W210 instead of W124. I told them it was incorrect, and asked for the proper price sheet for the W124, but I got no response as of now.

dsigner, yes I myself too can tell the different, but then again I'm a car nut.

I'd say most people, 95% of them would not know they were not oem.

Its like I tell my brother who has a range rover. 95% of the people wont be able to tell that his is a 93 and not a 91 or 92 model.

but he himself could tell you what any year or model of range rover he is sitting next to. He can point out that because the bars have a slight difference, that its a 92 not a 93.

Most people are not that observant from my experience.

By all means get the Bosch ones if they are the smoked ones. if not, then the only choice if you want the clear smoked ones would be oe or aftermarket.

I personally think mine are too white, but they look way better than the orange, and for now they are staying until I upgrade to the euroheadlight's/smoked indicators.

I myself plan on buying the bosch or hella Euro lights and or bosch corners in smoked if they make them in smoked.

I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't by the bosch, but I am saying that if it were me, and money was a major factor, I'd be more than happy with non bosch units.

But since I plan on doing the euro lights and the smoked indicators, I plan on going with only OEM if possible. I'd rather pay $50 more for OEM than $50 less for aftermarket.

hence the reason I paid $13.00 at the dealer for the factory oil filter, and not $8.00 at pepboys for the aftermarket one.

DSinger and Ashman,

Thanx a lot for your help, both of you. I just ordered the OE Bosch clear indicators for my car, the total was $96.48US with shipping & handling included. I decided on the clears for two reasons: first, they were OE Bosch, so I guess although aftermarket indicators could be of equal quality, the name itself made me a little more comfortable. Second, since my '95 E420 has the updated headlights, I thought that by putting on the clear indicators, it would create a sorta "complete head light" effect, where you can't see any visible transition between the main head light housing in the front, all the way to the sides, So it looks like one complete unit. I think it would look quite elegant. Again, thank you for your help guys!

JCE,

I probably won't be gettin' back to Vancouver, BC until late May, and only then, will I be able to do the swap from my clear indicators with orange strip to completely clear indicators. I'll blast you an E-mail, or post on this site, if you are still interested in them at that time.

Glad to hear you got your "peace of mind".

hehehe

As you know with my list of future mods, I'll be spending a pretty good chunk of change to make my car what it so badly wants to become.

I am going for a uniform color tone with the lights all around. The tinted 94-95 tail lights, then the headlights and tinted front corners which if they make them in the bosch, I would love to use them. I'm not sure if they do make them that color though, so if the look I'm going for is Available as an Aftermarket only part, thats what I'll be getting.

Now on another note. How about body kits. Would you guys go for the purist approach and get a real amg kit, or get the AMG replica kit. For me the money saved on the replica kit goes towards the painting and installation of it, and I'm sure the look of it and even the quality would be equal to the real one.

Also, I painted my front and rear indicator bulbs pretty much all silver apart from a bit at the bottom of the bulb. looks killer when the lights are off. Rear indicators look great when on too. Front ones, parking lights look dim, indicators look cool. Might buy new bulbs and try revealing a bit more orange for the fronts. but the off appearance is worth the dimmer parking lights. hehe

Duck have you thought about using the chrome rocker panel sheeting they sell at the local auto parts stores to use in the headlighs like on that japanese site? Looks way cool. definately doing that when I get my euros. Though I better just do the lights. don't put anything that can change somethings appearance to something different in my hands. I'll start covering everything with the stuff. hehe.

Like that wood laminate I got. Covered my radio in my car - looks sweet, covered alarm remote - looks sweet too, and covered my palm pilot, which looks sweet too. Also did some stuff in my brothers range rover. his radio, ashtray, and dome light surround which was yellowing and nasty looking. Man what a difference it made in his car too. I even went as far as doing my cell phone, but I took it off the phone. - I realized I had gone a bit too far. LOL

And while I was messing with recovering the alpine faceplate. I removed the green bulb covers and replaced them with red. now it has red light up bottons and green display. looks way cool. was easy to do with some clear red plastic to go over the bulb. Might try out different colors until I find some that really look cool, or do each of the 4 bulbs diff colors. hehehe made a huge change to the look of the radio too. of course now I'm looking into other light bulb mods for the car.

Might look into making the cluster lights blue or red or something. hehe with white face gauges which I am also debating on getting. hehe

Now lets see how the indicators look when you got em on Duck. I wanna see the pics.

My list of mods could go on forever. I figure by the time I'm done I could have bought a 500E. then I'd still have to do some of the mods anyway hehehe. but I love my coupe.

At some point, I'd like to transplant a C36 engine and tranny into it. now that would kick butt. Add an E in front of the 36 for CE36 and AMG on the right. yum hehehe
