Hello guys,

Sorry about ANOTHER inquiry concerning clear indicators, but I did a search through the archive and it seems that no answer was given for WHERE exact we could get the original equipment Bosch clear indicators. People have recommended a lot of places like http://www.bekkers.com , etc. etc. etc. but it seems that they are not the "REAL THING". Can somebody direct me to a place with the OE Bosch clear indicators are for sale for my particular car? If they are OE, it should be easy to pick 'em up at the dealership right, or from the PartsShop on this site? Just wondering...love to get clear corners, just don't wanna compromise on quality. I'll probably need more help in installing them later anyways, since the headlight assembly seems to be tricky to get to on a W124 E420 due to the air intake arms.

duck are you looking for the ones with the orange strip or the all clear ones?

I got mine from http://www.gapa.com but they are Depo and not bosch. I plan on changing them out tot the smoked front indicators from inpro. http://www.in-pro.com

Also try importvision I think. http://www.importvision.com.

They actually called me today asking if I still wanted to buy the Euro Headlights, which I do, but I don't plan on it for another couple of weeks.

The smoked ones from in-pro supposedly look great and match in with the headlights very nicely.

I KNOW as a fact that Bekkers and Performance Auto sell the Bosch OE European indicators. That is where I got mine. That is why they are so much more expensive than the others.

Ashman,

What are "smoked indicators"??? I don't seem to have ever seen then before...do you have any pictures? I was thinkin' of getting the clear indicators by Bosch, the OE ones...these are the standard ones that come with the European models right? Do the smoked indicators come as OE produced by Bosch also? I see from one of the sites you posted that there are smoked indicators manufactured by Hella. I'm just worried about aftermarket indicators; call me paranoid, but I rather fork out twice the price now, then pay for it five-fold later on down the road. Just as a note, the OE indicators on my car are not completely orange. They have only an orange strip down the side at the corners, but the front of the indicators are mostly clear. Is there another form of indicator? Like all orange? I think you made a mention of "clear indicators with orange strips" that sounds like mine, so I was just wondering. I bought the car new, with no modifications to the indicators, so did M-B update the indicators from "all orange" to "clear indicator with orange strip" during the latter years of the W124 production run?

DSinger,

I don't know if http://www.bekkers.com has the OE Bosch indicators. I searched through the forum archives and there was mention that the ones sold by http://www.bekkers.com were aftermarket indicators produced in Taiwan, and not in Germany. Thanx for the tip though, I will call in to http://www.bekkers.com and double check.

Thanx a lot for the help and suggestions guys!

DuckMuck:
I believe it was for the 94-95 model years of the w124 that they changed the orange indicators to clear with a verticle orange reflector. from 90 something on they also changed the rear tail light lenses (clear rear turn indicator with orange bulb on my neighbors 95 300E), and the headlights to the Euro "look alike lens", along with the hood and grill design and trunk insert. BTW, if you are getting all clear or smoked, let me know what you want for your orange stripe indicators

Is the difference in price for the indicators a result of glass vs. plastic? I was changing the main bulbs to my car, and noticed the main housing of the headlight was glass. I'm not sure about the indicators though, never paid attention. Are the indicators also made of glass?

JCE, why do you prefer the clear with orange strip indicators? It seems the all clear is the popular way to go nowadays...just wondering...

Duck, What I called the smoked front indicators are referred to at inpro as smoke silver indicators. They more closely resemble the color of the 94-95 tail light indicators which are clear lightly smoked.

Yours are the 94-95 clear with orange reflective strip.

As far as changing the indicators, its a simple clip. you push clip, then push light outwards and its out. Headlights are a different story all together though.

Also if you have noticed the color the euro headlights seem to look when off, kind of lightly tinted, thats more or less how they look. I believe they closely resemble the ones on Dsingers car which are the bosch ones but I believe they are slightly tinted.

If they are made by Hella those should probably be OEM, I believe mercedes used bosch and hella for OEM for the Euro Headlights, so it would probably make sense that they were also doing it for the front indicators.

Definately go for the bosch or hella ones they will both be high quality.

I like the orange strip ones because they are street legal and I live in a double fine zone. Also, SoCal already has too many clear corners and chrome coffee cans! Finally, they look stock MB, and I like Q ships.

Ashman,

Lookin' through http://www.importvision.com , I see the following selection for Mercedes-Benz:

http://www.importvision.com/lighting/mercedesbenz/mercedesbenz.htm

The "Smoked Side Marker" for $39.90, which I am assuming is made by Hella from the logo on the page, are the ones that you are referring to? Is the indicator on this particular black pearl E320 Wagon the "Smoked Side Marker"???

Furthermore, in terms of installation, when you actually remove the original indicator, isn't there some sorta vacuum seal to prevent condensation within the indicator housing? When you replace them, doesn't think BREAK the seal??? Have any of you guys encountered condensation within the housing? If these Hellas are good quality (I'm assuming German made???), then I'm gonna order them for sure. Thank you for your help guys!

that looks like it is. The smoked one is slightly tinted so it looks a bit more grey like the headlights/tail light indicators.

I think so.

The side markers would also be a nice adition, only I'm not so sure I want to drill a hole in the fender...

Hello,

I blasted an E-mail off to http://www.importvision.com and received the following answers to my questions. I thought it might serve to be helpful for future shoppers of indicators:

#1. Are these indicators manufactured by Hella?

NO

#2. Where are these indicators made? Are they made in Germany?

MADE BY MHW GERMANY
#3. Is the price you stated of $79.90 for only one indicator, or both

indicators, left AND right?
LEFT AND RIGHT

#4. Is the black pearl W124 E320 Wagon pictured on your site and located at

this URL:
http://www.importvision.com/pics/MB2.jpg

using the Smoked Indicators that I just mentioned, or are they the Clear
Indicators?

SMOKED

#5. What is your return policy?

WE HAVE 7 DAYS RETURN POLICY, BUT THEY HAVE TO BE: NEVER BEEN INSTALLED, IN
THE ORIGINAL CARTON, IN RESALLABLE CONDITIONS.

Does anybody have any experience with this company called MHW??? I found their website at this address: http://www.m-h-w.de The indicators are made in Germany. Just wanted to double check before I dig into the piggy bank. Thanx a lot!
