This is only the exhaust side. I performed this work to increase and steady flow from the exhaust port for my turbo project. The sharp edge of the acute angle of the port was completely removed and rounded, this mod will make a considerable difference in flow. The polishing will also help decrease carbon buildup and heat saturation in the port. I plan on doing some minor work on the intake ports to increase flow.

That looks like a real nice job.Would like to see it when its done.

The turbo needs to bolt to the exhaust manifold, so how are you making it and where will you mount the turbo? Will you be using a 300SD exhaust pipe? I really curious as I'd like to do this to my 300SE, but not with so much horsepower, maybe 250.

I'm having the turbo manifold custom made by a guy in Canada. He does very nice work and is willing to get a 300E is his shop to construct it to the proper dimensions. Its going to be a header type manifold for maximum flow versus the log style you see avalable from some guys now. Obviously the turbo will be mounted on the exaust side of the block in a 300E. There is plenty of room there for one or even two turbos. It would be impossible to mount a Mercedes diesel manifold to an M103 head. If your interested in turboing your car, there are some very good books on the subject.

Execellent. good work. It's interesting that both the intake and exhaust flows will be supersonic with the supercharging; instead of just the exhaust. The result of cutting down the valve guide boss in the port usually isn't very exciting on a flow bench; But the supersonic flow out of the operating valve picks out the little flat bench around the valve guide and makes a big fuss out of getting around it; I think that's the main reason the modifications like you have made are very effective; kwhich they are. As they say, you can't race a flow bench!
