can somebody recommend a way to lower my e420. I work for a dealer that sells Mercedes, but they say not to lower it.
I just sold my BMW and would like to tighten up the m-b. a bit. I love the car. first I was going to put some 18s on the car and then see what the profile looks like. my thought is it could use lowering just a bit maybe 3/4 to 1 inch max. can someone suggest the best way to lower and what does that do to the ride quality. thank, mark |

Just had my friends at Vrooman Automotive install some Eibach springs on my wagon, and it looks very good. I didn't take before and after measurements but it looks like its lower by about an inch. Ride quality is still excellent and I haven't bottomed out on anything yet, even after driving fairly aggresively over some speed bumps and through some water "channels" crossing through intersections. So far I'm very happy. If and when it dries out here I'll see how she does in the corners.
Get quality springs and a good mechanic (although some folks here have done this DIY), and you'll be happy. Cheers Bill (from soggy Long Beach)

Go to the thinnest spring pads front and back... this should give you the effect you are looking for while keeping stock suspension.

mdmtairy,
you can easily upgrade to all the suspension parts found on the 1999 E55. This includes progressive rate Springs, Front Struts, Rear Shocks and the front & rear Sway Bars and the smallest Spring Pads. Then get your 18 inch wheels. If you go 245/40/18 up front and 275/35/18 in back get the fenders rolled. Add the AMG dual chromed tip exhaust and you are really rockin.

I did the exact same thing that Kevin suggested (except for the AMG exhaust)on my '97 E420 Sport. It looks, drives and handles GREAT!!!! Good luck!!!
Kevin, if you don't mind, how much did the AMG exhaust cost? The best price I've been able to find is approx. $900 at statusimport.com Thanks. |

I paid $899 for it. The dealer wanted $1100. I got it from the same place - http://www.statusimports.com . I have been wanting to upgrade the suspension like you have, Simon, but I have been thinking about ordering a E55 rather than upgrade my E430!
