I'm right hear.
At this time I havent started the actual transplant but I do have the cars. See the link below. My red 1986 560SL is just finishing up a full interior restoration should be done next weekend. My Black SL600 I just got running with a Chevy truck radiator tied to its front. I can at least drive it in and out of the drive way. My preliminary measuremens show the fit looks promising. Engine length is OK. Engine width OK except by the left side throttle actuator. Master cyl will have to be moved. Other area is the oil filter housing will have to be machined to accept plumbing for a remote filter. AC compressor will have to be moved, PS pump may have to be moved. I have not looked at the oil pan to subframe relationship yet, I do assume this will have to be modified. The biggest challange I see to this project is fooling the computers to work without all of the other features that are integrated into the car, like traction control etc. This might be easy it might be hard. I dont know because the last MB I worked on would have been in 1988. How these features work will all be new to me. When its all said and done I may just end up with 6 Webber carbs. That would be cool also. John Roncallo http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=414 |
