OK, it's official, our 1988 300TE has been transformed to a 360TE AMG.

Pictures at: http://www.silcom.com/~neilv/sportline/index.htm

Motor, electronics, tranny, and diff are from a 1995 C36 that did F1 Medical car duty.

Front hubs, brakes, and wheels are from a 1992 500E.

Springs are H&R (front & rear), bushings are MB SportLine, and shocks are Bilstein Sport.

Exhaust and front & rear spoilers are Brabus.

The wagon (aka, Schwartz) is a blast to drive.

Next upgrades are possibly 17-inch rims and a Brabus front & rear suspenson (H&R a little too low with Brabus spoilers).

Then its off to Willow Springs for some high-performance driving school, and then to the Silver State Classic in the late summer/early fall.

Thanks for everyone's support, esp. my mechanic Ron.

Enjoy,

:-) neil

Thats one super-wagon you got!

Really nice clean car, I especially liked how you used the Euro headlight wipers, really compliments the Euro lights, was the install hard?. And The Pics of the door shows some great big door Speakers. How did you get them in there? I bet that wagon was transfored into a real beast, whats the performance specs on it? I'm definatly looking forward to seeing more pics of your new TE36 ///AMG. Great Job!!!

You ought to take on that chroming of the headlights project as described in that post a little while back. I think it looks great.

Neil:

Fabulous! Would you mind bringing it to a Long Beach section MBCA gathering one of these days? We have several wagons in our section and we'd love to see this beauty!

My next project is a little smaller--installing the sportline front roll bar in my wagon that I ordered from this site. Unfortunately it didn't arrive before the weekend, so it looks like I'll be wrenching on it Monday night.

Fabulous car Neil, looks superb!

Bill

Best Wagon Ever!

Neil,

Great job, sooooo clean and pristine! Best looking (and handling, I'll bet) wagon that I've ever seen.

Now my wife wants one! See what you did?

Also great clear pics! What's the camera?

Accleration is great (2.87 diff), but should be better with the 3.07 limited-slip rear diff coming in a couple of days.

I had 3.27, but WAY too high of RPMs for highway cruising (acceleration insane).

Euro lamps and Euro wipers was a snap. I did those myself.
The wipers are expensive and you do a need different bottom sheetmetal.

Speakers are 6-inch ADS speakers with external crossovers. I formed the speaker enclosures myself with a cardboard tube, strips, and bondo. Recovered everything in MBTEX from World Upholestry in Oxnard, CA.

When is the next Long Beach section event? I just may make it.

Yes getting a movie from BlockBuster and grocery shopping is a blast. So is keeping up with those BMW & Audi wagons.

Perhaps a supercharger or turbo in the future . . .

More pictures to come. . .

Love the car, just one nit pick point. For the love of God, get rid of the mud flaps on a sports wagon! Grin.
