So the E500 was nice as they claim? It was just a matter of them not giving you enough for your trade?

Thanks.

Eraser-x...

Glad you got the car. Who did you talk to at the dealership? I bought mine there and had it shipped up. Mike (the owner and of Oriental background) was great to deal with and is a stand up guy. When I called transport companies down there to get a price on delivery, they all seemed to know him and had high praise for him.

Re: Sold... now 2 more!

I wanted to comment earlier but decided to wait until it arrived
I'm the lucky guy that bought this Brilliant Silver E500
It arrived by truck this morning and is really nice. If you happened to visit the auction, let me say that the car was very well represented. It's not new car perfect, but it looks, runs, and drives great!

Ok, gotta go...for a drive

Glen! Good job!

I was thinking very seriously of buying that car. I was on the verge of moving on it when the "old lady" told me to get the E500 or the ML55 that I have ordered. So, the E500 lost, unfortunately. hehe

Good luck on your new purchase! I hope you love it.

Thanks guys!

The first thing I did today when it arrived was wash it. It shipped on an open truck so was pretty dirty. I still need to clean a little bit of road tar from the lower edges of the rockers but otherwise the car looks great. At this point it doesn't need anything. Services are up to date and everything works. I still can't believe it's mine!

500E steering wheel diameter

For the Forum's information, all 500E/E500s had a 390mm diameter steering wheel. It's documented in the earliest service literature, and I just saw a 4/92 Car & Driver advertisement for the 500E that mentioned it. Mine's a 6/92 and it has the smaller wheel.

Glen,

Congrats. I hope Mike and the rest of the staff at Expo Motorcars in Houston took care of you as they did with me. Most dealers out there suck, but these guys were awesome!

I sure love my 94 E420!

Expo

Willy,
Thanks! I was very comfortable with everyone at Expo and would be eager to buy another car from them again.

Thanks for the Expo Reviews

I am glad to hear that Expo is getting good reviews. They seem to go through a whole lot of cars, and since a few of you have had positive experiences with them, it makes it much easier to consider dealing with them on some level. Texas and Florida are two places that i shudder at when considering long-distant purchases.

Glen. When you get it all washed and waxed up, i'd love to see some pictures!

I took a few pictures yesterday, click on 'E500' in my signature. It needs a bit more detail work on the lower rocker panels but otherwise looks good. For some reason, the pictures look as though the car is blue/silver, it's not, it's Brilliant Silver. I guess the digital camera got confused...

Wildly expensive US prices

Hi all

The prices mentioned on E500's in this thread, is so expensive. In Germany a E500 goes for between 11.000 and 19.000 USD. So I guess quite some bargains can be made here in Europe.
