Lightbulb Performance Mods for '85 280E (W123) 5-speed

Hey guys,

My first post on these forums

I have a White 1985 280E (W123) 5-speed. The car has just 53K miles on it and is still in original paint without any fading, scuffing, or rust (just a couple of very tiny scratches). Other wise its in mint condition! And it still has the new-car smell in its beautiful Blue interior.

The car usually just sits in the garage because of high fuel prices ... so I was thinking of making it a high-performance fun vehicle.

Not saying that it slow ... the engine is still sweet till 7K rpm, but I want more. So I'm looking for suggestions from the experts.

I was just wondering if there is a supercharger/turbo available for this engine? Short shifter? Wheel/Tire recommendations? Intake? Exhaust? Body enhancements?

Thanks!

First off, my '84 280e with a 5-speed gets 25 mpg on the highway - probably better than most.

There is not much more you can do to the M110. Even the baddest AMG kit from the '80s was only enough to take the M110 from 185hp to 215hp. You'd have to go the turbo route, but I have yet to hear of a success story with one. There's not much to do, just drive it and enjoy it.

Got any photos?

i agree with POS. if you want more acceleration you might consider a 369 rear end. i have one in my 280e five speed and it is very very lively.
