Dear all.
I just got my alignment done yesterday. -1 at the front and -3 at the rear. The shop that I went to told me that since the rear are not fully adjustable is better for me to rasie the ride height of the car to prevent tirewear. They said that they could rasie the car's ride height by putting thicker pads in but they will have to charge me 3 hrs of labor to do that, which is 90/hr plus the cost of the pads. I think is kind of expensive, because you could get a brand new set of Eibach springs in tirerack for 275. Anyone had experience with eibach pro kit spings in their W124 applications? I just don't want my car to be lowered too much. Any tips or concerns would help. Thank you very much. Pete regards |

Pete,
I have Eibach Pro kit springs and Bilstein Comforts with #1 pads in the front and #3 pads in the back. These have been in my 86 300E since January, so far I am not noticing any premature wear in my tires. The whole installation of the springs and shocks took me and my brother-in-law 3 hours to install(we didn't use a spring compressor either). My car sits real nice. I have a friend who just bought a 86 300E and he loves the way hte car sits. Try it yourself, I'm sure you'll be satisfied.

Pete,
Not 100% sure, so I don't want to give you the wrong information. I'm running 16's with 215/50/16 and I have about 1" to 11/4" clearance from top of wheel to fender though.

hey rich, how did you install the springs without the compressors? i got a set of eibach sitting in my garage right now but the local shops are asking $3-400 for the installation. i want to install them myself but was advised not to because it is hard to find a compressor that works well. anyway, let me know. thanks

No way dude 300 to 400 dollars to install these springs ? Does that include 4 wheel alignments ?
Intallations are simple. If you got a lift that could be done in an hour or so. Regards |

My Mechchanic only charged me $40 per wheel to do the springs.
At first he had the lowest pads int he front and rear, and the car was slammed. I decied it was too much, so I had him change the pads to the 2 bump front, 3 bump rear. Which would be 13mm front, 18 mm in the rear, and my car sits perfect. I am not using the Eibach pro kit, I am using the Neuspeed springs which I got from neuspeed for $125.00 Check out my site, the car has 16" wheels with 205/55/16 and the gap is excellent, around an inch to an inch and a half gap int he fenderwell instead of 4 inches like I had before.
