I recently picked up a 1986 300E in perrty much mint condition. She was a doctors car sense she came off the lot i think, used but not abused.

I have been looking for some way to enhance the cars performance a little bit, but not much.. ok maybe alot.. but yea.

I dont know much about engines, but ive grown to love the older mercedes and the over-enginerring of it. So im looking to see what are just a few basic upgrades that would help out and not require messing up the car in anyway.
Ive found a few people who have done upgrades to an extreme, so im wondering what helped the MOST. If you had to pick one or two upgrades what would you pick.

-Cold air intake is out from what I can understand, the intake allready is just about the best it can get.
-Turbo sounds like its the best bet, but im worried about not doin it right and not finding a turbo made for the car.(again i know little about cars, less about upgrads.. but i do my homework)
