First of all, what is the best way to do one of these? Also, how much will it damage my car? I have [the family has] an 87 300sdl, and the other day I tried a brake stand. [Peer pressure, you know. Heh [I was curious, as well]] It WAS warmed up when I did this. Basically I put it in 2nd [Lowest] pressed on the brake, and let it rev up to 2500 - 2700rpm before letting off the brake. It made a pretty good 15ft+ mark. So please try to look past the fact that I'm young and stupid here. =) Anyhow, did I hurt the car? Significantly stress components that will lower their life expectancy? Thanks very much! [I took pictures of the mark, if you'd like to see it.]

Thanks,
James

Let me get this straight

You did a brake stand with a diesel? Did you leave two clouds, one rubber one diesel?

Acid rain, anyone?

Lol. Nope, only a cloud from the tires.

I remember doing that with my mothers car when I was a teenager and blew a brake line. Not that I had to do a power brake, it could do it anytime, it was a 1969 Mercury Marquis with a 429 (thats why they call 350's small blocks) and a 650cfm two barrel. And it took ten dollars to fill it up. I remember her mechanic mentioning to me he could tell a teenager was driving the car and that I was going to kill it.

Does that car have a turbo? What did that sound like? And did you spin both wheels?

It's a straight 6 with a turbo. I couldn't have been sitting there with the brakes on more than 5 seconds. It made marks with both tires, however the mark on the left side was longer. "Going to kill it" Yeah, I don't really plan to try another one anytime soon. =P
