I've got some detailed Hammer photos from an old forum post. This car was for sale with the "wrong" motor, someone bought the car, and managed to locate the original M117 Hammer motor. Amazing. I have no idea where the project is at currently, but here's the link to the photos back when it was still for sale:

GSXR, you are thinking of ALAIN V. here on the forum. He does not post hardly at all. But yeah, that hammer (RED - US press car) was for sale, but I dont know what Alain did with it.

Was Alain V. the guy who was selling it with the M119, or is he the guy who bought it and then located the original M117 engine...?

That car is currently having it's engine gone through..the fellow just got gaskets for the 6L M117. It's been apart for years as such sitting in his shop (freeport, Long Island)...I forget the fellow's name @ this point.

I'll let y'all know when it's back on the road...only reason I know what's going on is my machinist is the one tending to the engine;-)

Kinda both. Alain got the red hammer. He had an M119 to put in it, but then he found an M117 DOHC engine, then he wanted to sell it all because he is into those GT40s...making custom parts and bodys, etc.

draging this up from the dead, but does anyone know what exactly the rear end mods were on the propshaft and drive shafts for the hammer? i have a modded 103 3.2 12v amg tt and it keeps snapping drive shafts and mincing up the flex joints at the gearbox and the diff to prop joint. i have been trying for a year to find out what the hammer had done to it to increse strenght.

The removed the stock subframe and substituted one of their own construction which utilized W126 parts, ie diff/drive shaft (moded length of course)..

You could see about swapping to a V8 late W124 housing and shaft or W140/R129...they should fit you'll just have to change the rear cover to one that fits your car...and again, modify the drive shaft.

They will need to be shortened and re-balanced. You may also want to consider swapping out the transmission tail shaft for the later cars as well so you'll have a 8 (as opposed to 6) bolt flex disc on either end.

How much torque is your modded M103 3.2 12v AMG making ? What chassis ?

The late model (1993-1995 USA) M104-powered W124 driveline is beefier than the early years that used the M103 engine, and is basically a bolt-on.

That's what I did for my C36-powered (M104 3.6 24v AMG) 1988 W124 wagon.

i haven't had it on the rollers yet, still in the process of "building" it,

still got to fit the meth kit and the water to air chargecooler, but as is with turbo technics supplied T2's runnin 15psi, ms1 v3 extra, 6x680cc low imp injectors, added to the amg mods consisting of big valve head, 104 crank( wich is what gives it the 3.2)and solid lifters (ive also fitted h beam conrods and forged pistons) it is mighty fast,

the best mod i have done so far though was to match the headders to the exaust ports, there was a 5mm step originally almost all the way round due to the machining of the exaust port by amg, so i used a dremmel to open out the headders to make it a smooth transition, there is no lag what so ever, the tick over is at 30 on the vac gauge, and when driving, any move of the throttel makes boost straight away, runnin 15psi at moment but am going to fit t28r's when cash allows.

i easly beat a clk 430 amg on the bypass, all though it wasnt an arranged race, he went for it from a roundabout, i dusted him and he looked mighty surprised at the next roundabout when i waited for him, he then gave me a thums up, and said wtf have you done to that? he then trungeld off really slow so as not to get shown up again! plently of idiots in suburus have been wasted as well! the best test of speed was when i had a mates evo 8 fq320 in a rolling 30 to 90 prearranged "race" by about 5 car lenghts. but then snaped the half shaft when we tried standing start test!

i am sure to get numbers simerler to romans cars when i get the new parts fitted.

Please keep us posted with your modifications. I'll probably need to duplicate a lot of what you're doing as I'm targeting similar performance with my build.

Very interesting! I was worried about what my LS6 (480HP/450ft-lbs) would do to the 560SEC rear end. Sounds like a new flex disc with the new 3.07 LSD might just hold it.

FYI, Dan's Driveline here in Vegas did my drive shaft for the FrankenBenz. IIRC, it was $275 to take a '91 SEC drive shaft, cut it to length, weld on a GM front yoke (with universal), balance and paint it.
