Are 215/55/16s really too big for the W124? Maybe I should go back w/ the OEM 195/65/15s..
but the 215/55/16s do fill up the gap..
everyone thinks I run on 15" rims cuz the tire looks chunky..

I got my K and N filter. Cost me $75 Canadian.

Changing tire size does look chunky, but remember the original tires standing heighth.
Not having read all the replies, this was sent for me to comment on; keep the same final drive gear ratio to ground and fender wall clearance.

Drop the 3.27 diff from a 1988-1990 W124 wagon, and the acceleration is so much better. You'll top out at about 128 MPH, but getting there is half the fun.
