By the time I get one I may have to be content with just looking at it, if gas goes to where pundits are predicting it will.

You know it seems like we ought to be getting gas for less if the war in Iraq really is about oil. I don't think we're getting our money's worth out of THAT venture!

A bit OT, but if you remember this war was initially 'not going to cost the US taxpayer a dime'...something along the lines of all the oil we would get out of the deal would pay for everything....

Ugh.

No, I had forgotten that. Well, I heard the other day that the payment were due to start soon, and they're going to be horrific!

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get off the subject.

NP. I'm just happily wrenching on the car now that I have parts, and hoping that my SD's complaining engine will hold on long enough for me to get the SEC back on the road before it quits complaining completely!

If anyone is interested, I've been posting pictures up in the flickr account linked from my signature. Half of that is just so I can look and see where stuff goes on the top side, and the other part is just to document it so others can see what a M117 looks like out of it's nest.

On that note, if you have any requests for pictures of specific parts, I'll see what I can do while I have it apart.

Ok, I managed to forget the front and rear main seals when I placed the big order. (Which is annoying both due to not having them here, and that I was intending to have ordered them from the first planned order!)

The question I have for you all is: What does the "1'st oversize" listed here on the buy parts link, as well as all the other listings I've found for m117 seals actually mean? Is it a larger diameter, or does it move the location that the sealing lip touches?

If I can find one that moves the contact point forward or aft of the stock location, I'd love to replace the front seal with that type.
I haven't pulled the rear yet to know, but it couldn't hurt there, even if there isn't a wear line on that journal.

As far as the engine refresh goes, I've finally gotten all the chain guides done that are going to be done (for now), and the new timing chain in the engine.

I'm not sure that I'm going to be doing the oil pump chain, though that's still up in the air.
I'd prefer to do it, but I'm trying to figure out how the silly thing comes out of it's hole! It looks like I'd have to take off the timing cover to get it off and to install the new one. That's not happening just for a low probability of failure item, at this point.

Any input is appreciated!
