1992 500e

My girlfriends mom has a 1992 500e with 25,000 miles sitting in the garage that she said I can have if I can figure out a stalling issue its having.

The car kinda stalls and cuts out when its warm sometimes, and sometimes if its cold outside but the car is warm. We are not sure why it does this.

Does anyone have any ideas for me to try?

We have taken it to many shops over the years and they always say they cant reproduce the problem

Just tell her you figured it out, everything is good, and go get the title signed over to you right away, and get it out of there quick, then go work on the engine stalling issue later.

A running original 500E with 25,000 verified miles on the clock is probably worth $30,000 to $50,000 and it is being given you free, so just take it "as is" and worry about the problem AFTER it's unconditionally yours with keys and title in hand.

Oh, crap. I agree with Jim. Tell her "I'll take it", have her sign papers, then figure out what it is later. Holy crap - why don't things like this happen to me?

lol, she will expect to see me driving it lol, So i need to get the stalling issue fixed ahead of time lol. She thinks its worth someplace between 13-20k Lol. I never knew that it could be worth that much, she said it was a limited edition model but yea.

My GF's family is rich lol, she has two 97 porches sitting right next to it that she never drives really lol. I love this thing 25,000 miles and the thing is freaking mint!! I love the little smoke screen thing that slides up the back window and stuff.

The car is freaking fast.

Any ideas on the stalling issue would be great!

Check the wire harness, the throttle bodies, and if those dont work, go to 500E.com and ask around.

I hate you.... Wanna trade for a running 210K 92 500E? Even If you have it towed to the dealership and pay them $3K to get it fixed, it's well worth it. I'd get the car ASAP before the deal slips through the cracks, or you get into a fight with your girlfriend. If you "Must" fix it there I'd start by checking for codes. With only 25K I'd suspect some kind of bad connection due to sitting, the wiring harness should be mint.

Can you say OVP relay?

Does the 119 have an OVP relay that is as lame as the 103 and 104? If so or even if not, I would replace it first.

Then, offer the car for sale to ME for what GFM wants

Just be careful when you try to rock your rocking chair on those porches!

Just take it, like Jim said. You can always part it out . . . .

It could be so many things ... cut to the chase and take it to a MB Dealership. It can be serviced there. For more info, go to www.500Ecstasy.com.

Where are you located?
